Problems playing a DVD on a Blu-Ray player

A strange thing happened with my Samsung Blu-Ray player this afternoon...BD P1500, by the way...I put in a DVD (Password-yes, the game show-disc one) and it said "no signal." I ended up watching it on my regular DVD player instead.

But I put in a Blu-Ray disc and it played fine and I put in a different DVD later on and it played fine.

This is the second issue I've run into with my Samsung Blu-Ray player not playing a random DVD. (The other one was the 1994 Iron Man animated series disc one...I got the same message I get when I try to play a Region 2 DVD.)

Firmware updates are all current...what could be causing this?

Re: Problems playing a DVD on a Blu-Ray player

I have this issue with the Beatles Anthology DVD's with my Samsung BD-P3600 & the problem seems to be that it just can't display the menu for some reason. But the program itself plays fine if you can get to it without looking at the menu.

I usually just choose 'select' on the remote when I get this blank screen, since most DVD menus place the curser on 'play movie' as the default.

My discs are in mint condition, sir! And even if there was a minor scratch it wouldn't cause the problems I saw.

It's just frustrating...I read complaints of bad Samsung Blu-Ray players on older models but not so much with the newer ones.

I am never touching a Sammy BD player for sure. I keep hearing complaints about their BD products, this should be the nail.

Re: Problems playing a DVD on a Blu-Ray player

My uncle had one of those Soundstage concert DVD's that wouldn't play on my BDP350 or his BDP550 yet play fine on any SD player it's put in. So he has his 10 year old SD player hooked up for that one DVD plus any "just in case" that crop up
