Flash Gordon [1980] Blu-Ray specs?

It's coming out in June but I haven't seen any specs on it. Does anyone know if the extras are basically a port from the "Saviour of the Universe" edition or will there be more?

According to Universal's press release it's the same as the DVD (well, minus the teaser to long canceled SciFi/SyFy dud series)

Bonus Features:
• Alex Ross, Renowned Comic Artist, On Flash Gordon
• Writing A Classic: Screenwriter Lorenzo Semple, Jr.
• First Episode Of The Flash Gordon 1936 Serial
• My Scenes
• BD Live - Basic Download Center

Sounds disappointing, since the UK edition had commentaries and interviews.

Is anyone else tired of getting Blu-rays of catalog titles that just port over the DVD features? Blu-ray offers the ability to do so much more than present the movie in HD, but studios don't seem to care - and then wonder why the format hasn't taken off more than it has (the main reason people went from VHS to DVD wasn't just because of the better picture, but because of all the bonuses/interactivity). Alas, I'm preaching to the choir here.

It's a vicious circle: Blu-ray is not taking off, so the studios won't spend the money on upgraded transfers or new/improved special features....until it starts taking off.

Not me...

While I would obviously prefer (if given a choice) for some new extras to be created and added, if a studio is not going to do that then I applaud the ones that do at least carry over the existing material....

It is the ones that can't even bother to do that which make me ...yes, sometimes there may be rights issues (work them out people!), or even space issues (back in the early days of bulky MPEG-2 transfers and single layer BD-25 discs), but porting the stuff that's already there for the using should be a no brainer in my book....

But that official website keeps telling me Blu-ray is mainstream! What gives?!?

Very disappointing as I just sold my UK DVD (the extras were great).

Let's just hope Universal doesn't mess up the transfer like they've done with most catalog titles.

Blu-ray.com's review. Too bad the serial episode isn't in HD as well.

Thanks for the link.

Never bought the DVD release, so I'll probably pick this up.
