Thanks Matthew,
I read another review of the disc where they rated the extras a 1 out of 5 and complained that there was just one extra this time around. I bet if I had simply cut it up into 4 20-minute "featurettes" I could have scored a 3 out of 5.

I feel an 83-minute documentary is substantial. I don't even think most of the Blu-rays I own contain more than that in terms of additional video bonus material.

Based upon the MSRP, I wouldn't be surprised if Wal-Mart has this on street date for $10 due to past Lionsgate catalog releases. If that's the case, I'll most likely pick it up especially based upon the fact that I already own all the Rambo films on BD and I've spent barely $30 total on them new.

So why was the DVD release pulled and this one now made a BD exclusive? Just curious, there was even artwork for the standard def release already posted in the thread in the DVD forum....

Cuz...BD is the way to go? Jk..but it is.

I'm game for this at some point. Love the features on the TC. I'll hold off on this for now.

Just be glad its not the opposite.
I was very disapointed when Lionsgate only issued a 4 movie dvd set when Rambo came out last time, so I have no qualms with them not issueing this cut on dvd this time around lol.

Trust me, not trying in any way to stoke the ridiculous BD vs. DVD fires (although hey, this thread is in the HD forum, so of course the vast majority prefers BD as I do)....still, I'm just curious as to what went into the decision making process for them to pull the already announced DVD release and make this one BD only....

All you ever hear is "oh, BD is still less than 20 percent of the overall market, blah blah blah"...which is why I am wondering why they'd choose to only cater to this format with this specific release...

Perhaps they intend to make the DVD version a store exclusive (similar to what WB did with Terminator: Salvation DC)?

Picked it up at Sam's Club for 13.88 today. It does not have a slipcase.

I hate the cover art for this movie. It makes Rambo look like a tired, hurt old man holding his shoulder.

Well, he kinda is... he just finished taking out an army in that scene, lol. But yeah, I've never liked the image for the cover art.

Are you referring that they won't or they will?

Anyone know how much Wal-Mart will have it for?

it's $19.99 in-store. Walmart says not available in stores but $13.86 shipped to home or site to store. hopefully, someone can verify that Walmart might actually have it in-store for decent price...

The west hollywood Bestbuy had none in stock today, and are not planning on getting any they said. but next door target had a ton of them for 14.99

I just cant believe that the "COMPLETE COLLECTORS SET" doesnt have this new extended cut.
i know the 14.99 price is great for it on its own but with as much as i have ordred for today and the next several dozen weeks iam going to have to wait till the price drops a few more dollars to around 10.00 so hopefully it will do so in the next few weeks

Just finished watching this. Huge improvement over the previous cut IMO. Its amazing how just a few scenes of dialogue made such a big difference. This is the version that should've played in cinemas.

Theatrical cut: 3/5
Extended cut: 4/5

Lame I didn't know that. I had the complete collector's set in my hands to buy at Target, but decided to wait on it. Glad I did.

I think I asked before but I don't remember if anyone had an answer, does anyone know if proceeds of this release still go to Burma like Stallone said on Leno in like 2008?

I remember seeing that episode and it being the reason I never bought the original when it came out figuring id wait for the extended cut but I didn't think it would be over 2 years later lol.

Re: Rambo - Uncut - July 27

The ONLY place I found this today was Wal-Mart. I went to Target and they were remodeling and they had moved all the DVDs/BDs except for the new release kids movies and I had no clue where they put them. So I went to Best Buy with no luck, then went to FYE still nothing, went to Sam's Club, nothing, went to a 2nd Target they had a spot for it but they had none. Finally went to Wal-Mart and found a few.

Also to note no one had G.I.: The Movie on BD, Wal-Mart had it on DVD but no BDs. :(

OldBoy 07-27-10 08:28 PM

Re: Rambo - Uncut - July 27

my Walmart had the spot for it and the Collector's Set, but alas had not gotten them in yet (or so i was told). they have the other new releases up, but not this one. my BBs around are "Not available" but wouldn't pay the $19.99. if not in tomorrow then i will just do site-to-store which is actually a dollar and change cheaper from website at Walmart.

In case anyone bitching about the DC not being in the box didn't read the thread, I think it makes sense. What's the likelihood of someone owning the original Blu-Ray of Rambo and not the trilogy, and what's the likelihood of someone wanting this new release by itself? Newbies are going to be the former, fans are going to be the latter. Newbies buy both the box set and the new disc, because you get the extensive special features, like Stallone's video/audio commentary and the deleted scenes with the theatrical Rambo disc, and fans can just get the new one independently.

In that case the set shouldnt be called "THE COMPLETE COLLECTORS SET" because its not complete its missing the new cut and the documentary that goes along with it.
Not to mention its also missing the digital copy of Rambo as well, heck even the dvd complete collectors set
released back in 2008 had the digital copy.
they could have very easily placed the extended cut in the set for those who are buying the complete set instead of making us spend another 15 bucks.
