King Kong (1933) - Coming to Blu-ray in 2010!
http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=4535
During the TCM Classic Film Festival, held recently in Los Angeles, renowned film critic Leonard Maltin introduced a new digital restoration of the 1933 classic King Kong, which was shown at Grauman's Chinese Theater. Maltin later revealed in his blog that this restoration will "yield a Blu-ray home video release later this year."
Maltin also commented that the film looked "magnificent" on the "huge" theater screen. "Best of all," he added, "it didn't have the look of a spruced-up video: it was as if we were watching a pristine 35mm print. And it was preceded by Max Steiner's original overture."

You'd think someone would have said something about this back when they revealed their catalogue plans for this year. But I guess if they can push Ben-Hur back, they can push King Kong forward.

The Eighth Wonder of the World is coming up in high definition. On September 28, Warner Home Video will release the classic action/adventure movie King Kong, in a Blu-ray DigiBook edition. The feature will include all the scenes cut from the re-releases, presenting the 1933 version in its entirety.
Special features include:
- Commentary by creature creator Ray Harryhausen and visual effects artist Ken Ralston, with archival sound bites from Merian C. Cooper and Fay Wray
- I'm Kong: The Exploits of Merian C. Cooper (2005 TCM documentary)
- The Making of Kong, Eighth Wonder of the World (7-part documentary)
- Trailers
The 32-page booklet, featuring photography and trivia, has been edited by film historian Rudy Behlmer.

Bah, another horrible digibook. WB seems to be re-issuing all of their digibook titles with regular cases (and lower prices) after six months or so, so I'll just hold out and Netflix it in the meantime.

Poltergeist and Clash of the Titans have both been announced in the last couple of weeks, plus Batman a couple of months ago, but beyond that I suppose it's simply wishful thinking on my part.

All? There are about 25 or so Digibooks and maybe 8-10 have normal releases (a few always had normal releases like Goodfellas). It's very random to which titles they release normally and there is no set period of time. Its been over a year for Falling Down. Year and a half for JFK. It's probably done when the current run sells through
