Dammit. Didn't want to do it, but Shouts latest cock-up is the last straw.

First Region B titles

Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)

Ugh. I said I wasn't going to waste my money on Sony's new Blu-rays since they didn't seem much better than the DVDs, but seeing them all in a row on a Wal-Mart rack made me give in. I'm still not replacing my King Kong vs. Godzilla and King Kong Escapes DVDs, though.

I also originally passed on these, but buying them on DVD for a friend got me to also buy them on Blu-ray for myself.

And because I don't have enough fucking monster movies in my collection:

I like the look of the Herzog steelbooks - but I'm waiting for the BFI collection which I just pre-ordered.

Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)

The BFI Collection is definitely the more economical way to go. These two are the only ones I feel an urgent need for though, having recently sold off my original Anchor Bay copies (which went a good way to subsidizing this purchase).

Ended up tossing in a couple more titles to leverage the shipping, and because the prices seemed worthwhile.

Violent Saturday ends up being about $12 less than I was planning to play for the Twilight Time in a couple months. While it's great to have access to better editions and things unavailable domestically, saving a few bucks here and there is also a worthwhile motivator to import.

It sounds like those old Anchor Bay releases might be worth keeping around for the commentaries.

Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)

All the talk of mummy films over in that topic got me wanting to see Tale of the Mummy again, which I had only previously seen on a shitty non-anamorphic DVD. The Blu-ray should naturally be an improvement. And since I still enjoy the Brendan Fraser movies that everyone seems to hate, I wanted to upgrade my trilogy DVD set to the Blu-rays.

Also, talking to someone about Revenge of the Nerds the other day, I felt it was high time to actually own it, and the new Blu-ray looks pretty good.

Re: The last Blu-ray you bought (Round 3)

One is an upgrade of the DVD that I already have.

The other is a movie I should have owned by now but never have.

After doing a marathon of the six Rocky films and then picking up the Raging Bull Blu-ray, I couldn't very well skip over Grudge Match, aka Rocky vs. Raging Bull. Even if it sucks like so many others have claimed, I sort of need to see it.

Finally got around to buying this. I've seen Casablanca before but the rest are blind buys.

^^^

Like them all except for The African Queen which is not a bad film but IMO is very overrated.

Still Mine, a very touching story about an elderly man struggling against the system to finish a house for his dying wife. It looks incredible on Blu-ray:

Been waiting for this one for months. Didn't even wait for the street date to place the order.
