If parts 3 and 4 were even half as good as the first 2, I wouldn't mind the $90 price. But part 4 sucks so badly, that I am not sure I'd go more than $70 on the set. And that is pushing it. I hate being forced to buy crappy movies in order to own the great ones.

You're not forced- just have patience. I'm not buying a thing 'til they're released separately, as I only want the first movie. It won't be a long wait, though. And I'm there on day one when Alien (just Alien) comes out.

I actually want the special features for all the films more than I want Alien and Aliens.

I actually enjoyed all the movies (to varying degrees of course), so I'll probably pick this up at release price. The only thing that would keep me away is if they do the Predator UE remaster technique to these.

Yea... I want that Alien set and all, but the highest I'll go on it is $70.

Sound of Music on blu. Finally. Might pick-up Last of the Mohicans as well. I can wait for the Alien anthology to drop in price or when Aliens gets a separate release.

You realize it's likely the separate releases will just be the single discs right? Not trying to change your mind, kinda sucks for people who only want a few of them plus their respective bonus features.

I still don't understand the point of putting the combo in a DVD case. Who really wants that? Sure, it fits in with a consumer's DVD collection now, but what happens when he gets that BD player? It would be different if every title was available in either case type, but clearly that's not happening; the standard size has become well-established for 4 years now. Someone who buys this will end up with a bunch of BD titles in short cases, with the oddball DVD case mixed in.

Or, are they doing this to get the combos on store shelves with the rest of the DVDs? Is the idea that many will be unaware of them if they're only in the BD section?

What sucks is that I'm pretty sure Mohicans won't have the theatrical or his extended cuts on there. Would have been, if only to see the changes he's been making.

Hopefully Rocky Horror includes both versions of the movie and all the extras from the 2-Disc SE (and a standard def copy of Shock Treatment would be a nice touch too)

Who ended up working on the Blu-ray edition? I'm assuming since David Prior, who put together the original two-disc edition, was busy putting together the Alien set that Fox had to pass it off to another producer / company? However, I would be shocked if the Blu-ray set didn't include both cuts, especially due to the fact that Fox went back to the original source materials to put together the DVD.

I'd also like a HD copy of Shock Treatment especially since its made the rounds in HD (on INHD) before too.

if Shock treatment is already mastered for HD then it would be awesome for them to include it in HD, even if it's in a box set at double the price

What other version of Rocky Horror? The black and white opening that was an extra?

I'm not sure what you're referring to but on the 25th anniversary DVD there was a 2nd version with an additional song added into the film.

There's actually three versions of the film...

1. The US version: Doesn't contain Superheroes.
2. The UK version: Does contain Superheroes (ahem the superior version).
3. The conceptual version: The film is in black and white until the Time Warp based upon Richard O'Brien's original screenplay notes paying homage to The Wizard of Oz.

The conceptual version is an Easter egg.

Re: 20th Century Fox 2010 4th quarter upcoming releases announcement

Fox has been killing it with the new cover art! Even though some of the updated artwork is inferior to what was on the DVD (Fight Club, IMO), it's great that they're taking the time to do new stuff. Nothing says "meh" like sticking some blah cropped DVD artwork into a Blu-ray case.

Rocky Horror and Mochicans on Day 1.
