Sherlock Holmes (2009) BD: (The Defective Detective Disc)

So I've heard about it elsewhere, and I've had the problems too. During the movie, there's quite a lot of skipping in the image in various parts of the BD.

Check out these spots:
29:47,
37:10,
1:11:17,
1:23:19,
1:35:57,
2:00:30

Also my player cannot access the Maximum Movie Mode. Badly pressed discs slipped through? All the discs like this? Is it affecting only a few players? Maybe.

But for the skipping images, using the step function, sometimes it looks fluid frame by frame, and sometimes seems like they forgot to encode a few frames.... Who else is having problems with this disc?

(And by the way, player is a Momitsu Region Free model)

Can access maximum movie mode on my Sony BDP-CX960 disc changer.

Didn't notice any skipping at those time points either. What player are you using?

No issues with the film or Maximum Movie Mode on my PS3.

Same. I like how they spruced up Maximum Movie Mode, too.

Worked fine on my BD390. Have you updated to the newer firmware (which makes it not Region free)? That might fix it. Otherwise grab a brand-name player and use Momitsu for Region Free only.

I'm betting it's the firmware. Hollywood changes the protection on these discs more than most people change underwear.

If you buy a solid player, you really won't need to update Firmware as much. The discs just 'work'. Some of the off-brand players just choke.

Yep. My Sony 360's last firmware was several months ago, and as far as I know, they have only issued 2 total since it was released in March '09. Firmware is very rare these days.

I checked all time spots in the OP and everything played fine in my BX37. I could also play the Maximum Movie Mode.

I have a Samsung 1500 and had stutter issues in all the spots listed above. I assumed it was problems with the Maximum Movie Mode.
