BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS - audio glitch?
has anyone watched their copy yet??? specifically those that purchased via amazon. at around the 1 minute mark the audio drops out and comes back and drops out again on the Dolby TrueHD track. i've gotten 2 discs now from amazon and both did this. the regular Dolby Digital track plays fine. can someone check their copy and see if they have the same problem?

I didn't get my copy via Amazon but I've experienced a couple audio drop-outs. On the first viewing it happened early in the film and then in the middle of the "dancing soul" scene--which was a major buzzkill. Just now I tested it again, briefly. There was a dropout in about the first 40 seconds, nothing at the 1+ minute mark; then I fast-forwarded to the dancing soul scene and there was another dropout--albeit at a different time than I remember from the first viewing. (DD track played fine.) I have a Samsung BD-P1600 connected to an Onkyo TX-SR605.
I'm a patient person but this sh*t pisses me off. It really takes you out of the movie.

The last question was whether your player is decoding the TrueHD signal and sending PCM to the receiver or if it's sending undecoded (bitstreaming) to the receiver.
Does your receiver indicate it's receiving TrueHD?
Either way if there's another person saying the same thing it could be a production issue. Maybe I'll try and rent first.

This is a poorly authored disc.
My copy, from Amazon, would freeze at every layer change on my Oppo BDP-83. I grew quickly tired and played the rest of the film on my PS3. Everything is hooked up via HDMI through my Denon. This is the first disc that I have ever experienced any issues with (own 331, plus use netflix) on either my Oppo or PS3. I experienced audio dropouts as well. I only watched the Dolby TrueHD audio track.
Excellent film btw! Very disappointed by this blu though.

Hmmm.
I have an LG PC Blu-ray / HD DVD player. GGC-H20L. Sending it from PC via digital audio cable to my Denon AVR-5700. Video is being sent DB15 to my 50" Panasonic Plasma. No audio issues. I don't want to watch this till the weekend, but I haven't had any audio issues from the beginning till to 3min mark. No dropouts. TrueHD 2.0 is what PowerDVD says.

I watched this tonight on my PS3 and had no problems. The picture quality was fantastic and the audio was solid.

This sounds potentially disappointing. Can anyone confirm if this is also an issue with the Canadian BD?

Maybe we need some more specific info on these discs. My disc says BVSS-083310A1 on it.

And if it did have a layer change issue, it would be around the middle of the movie, I would think.

Yeah it's single layer from the looks of it. I picked it up. Probably won't have a chance to watch tonight but will give it a spin over the weekend.

D'oh, why did I type layer change, that should have read each chapter. I was surprised as my Oppo has been a fantastic player to date.
Even the trailers had such pixelation to them not to mention not even dolby digital audio on them. I'll have to double check but this must be the first blu-ray I own from First Look Studios.

Because you'd still have about 3 more days into getting the goddamn wrapping off the case.
Swear to God I'm gonna save all their sticky crap and mail it back to them.

I think the Canadian disc has an even bigger glitch (according to what I read on the Canadian section of Bluray.com):
- No lossless audio
- Modified AR (from 1.85:1 to 1.78:1)
Looking at the back of the slipcover on my copy seems to confirm this. Sadly, I think this disc will have to go back now ...
