Blu-Rays at Pawn Shops

Blu-Rays at Pawn Shops
Searched for a thread (using "used" and "pawn") and found nothing.
I've been buying loads of Blu-Rays from the Pawn X-Changes in my area (Seattle), because they're $10 across the board. Not only does each Pawn X-Change within immediate driving distance that I've checked thus far (3) have plenty of titles, but they're all perfectly happy to let me swap the artwork and discs into the nicest cases I can find amongst the other used Blus.
Just today I found Wild Things and Paranormal Activity, and walked out of the store with them in new-condition cases for $20.00 and tax.
Anyone else having great luck at pawn shops?

Re: Blu-Rays at Pawn Shops
My experience is that pawn shops don't have Blu-rays. Heck, some have gotten out of the DVD game altogether, and those that still have them overprice them. The used bookstores do the same thing, Blu-rays at $15-20 and DVDs at $10-15.

For those who have Half Price Books, I've found some cataloged with their DVD's. I've found some decent ones for $9.99 or less. And of course, the always cheap HD-DVD's. Nothing in pawn shops for me though - I've never seen any.

I've bought used DVDs for years on the cheap, and I'm starting to see used Blu's as well. I haven't bought as no one title has really jumped out at me yet, but I'm keeping my eyes open.
There's a Halfprice books near us, and a local chain called Disc Replay, both have used Blu's.

I'm amazed at what people apparently blind-buy and immediately re-sell. Just found Clerks at a Pawn X-Change yesterday. Someone dropped $30 on this just to get rid of it? Of course, they might not all be getting to Pawn X-Change through the most squeaky-clean avenues, so who knows.
There were also at least 5 copies of the Frantic/Presumed Innocent double feature. Seriously, I wonder if I'll buy more than 25 brand-new Blu-Rays the rest of the year.

I've known some folks who've worked at even more high-profile stores than pawn shops, like GameStop and FYE, that have told me some real horror stories about the stuff they've been brought in for cash -- and pretty much have had their hands tied. Stack of brand new product just sliced open to appear watched. Sadly, it just comes with the territory of buying from resale locations.

Pawn shops have really added to my collection as well. One has a set price of $9.99 from which I just picked up Bourne Identity. Most range from $7 to $18 thou depending on how new the release is.
I do have a half priced books near but their prices are a bit high, usually clsoe or at the new price.

Bunch of good things at my local shops, although I already owned most of the titles in question. Best two scores recently were the digibooks of JFK and Shawshank.

I bought almost half my collection of BR from pawn shops/second hand stores. I got Full Metal Jacket for $7 at 1 Pawn Shop then got 9 for $11.49 & Max Payne for $9.99 at a 2nd hand video game store and then I bought about 35 from a Vintage Stock

Re: Blu-Rays at Pawn Shops
to help ensure that stolen goods are not pawned. And the Local law enforcement sponser classes to help pawn brokers be alert to what to look for in people who are trying to pawn stolen items. And the occasional new pawn shop that would open up and try to break the rules and take stuff that was known to be hot would be shut down.
I know alot about this because My dad before passing away managed a pawn shop for about 20 years, and I spent good amount of time around the shop.
So Not all pawn shops are going to have stolen merchandise, and to assume they do is just wrong.

Stuff with serial #'s make sense, but kind of hard to prove that Chuck S2 ON Blu-ray was stolen from Best Buy (unless the person is dumb enough to sell a ton of sealed items). People just need to open them up....way less suspicious (store manager of a video game place here...happened all the time).
