Hellboy

Hey guys, I'm trying to compare the Hellboy Blu-ray to the Hellboy DVD (I don't have either) as far as special features go, but I'm having a tough time. It looks like the Blu-ray is missing some special features from the DVD, is that correct? Namely, I notice the DVD has two commentaries, and the Blu-ray has only one. Anything else missing from the Blu-ray?

Thanks!

The BD of the director's cut only features the following from the three-disc DVD:
  • Commentary with Director Guillermo Del Toro
  • Deleted Scenes with Director Commentary
  • Hellboy - The Seeds of Creation (A two-and-a-half-hour documentary)
  • VFX How-To's
  • Make-up and Lighting Tests
  • Scott McCloud's Guide To Understanding Comics

While the DVD set adds:
  • Composer's Commentary with isolated score
  • Video Introduction by Guillermo del Toro
  • DVD ROM: Director's Notebook
  • Eight Branching DVD Comics by Mike Mignola
  • Set Visits and Factoids
  • Expanded Storyboards: picture-in-picture storyboard track
  • Hellboy: The Seeds of Creation
  • Four Animatics
  • Five Board-A-Matics
  • Scene deconstruction
  • Four storyboard to film comparisons
  • Maquette Rotations Gallery
  • Poster campaign
  • Filmographies
  • Cast Video Commentary
  • Production Workshop featurettes
  • Q&A Archive
  • Video Introduction by Ron Perlman
  • Production Design Photo Gallery
  • Mike Mignola Pre-Production Artwork
  • Conceptual Art Galleries

The Blu-Ray is also missing the theatrical cut (AFAIK), and the accompanying audio commentary by Guillermo Del Toro and creator Mike Mignola.

Re: Hellboy

I's a great movie and a great transfer. To me, it's a movie that belongs on Blu.
Go on ebay and buy the dvd as a companion disc for a couple of bucks (it's very. very cheap on there).

Are you buying it for the movie or for the extras? For me extras are just that "extra". I really don't care. In fact for the vast majority of movies I own I would prefer less expensive discs and little to no extras.

Like Ignohipopo said; grab a used 3 disc set for the extras, put the movie disc in a 1 disc case and donate to the library, keep the extras discs.

Re: Hellboy

get it on blu, can be found pretty cheap now (under $10) and has a demo worthy transfer imo.
