Is it just me or do multi-disc hubs suck?
Opened up the "fat case" version of Blade Runner I got tonight and two discs were floating off their hubs. No scratches, but it wasn't shocking considering the hubs are about as thick as the discs.
My copy of Wizard of Oz had the same shallow hubs.
What's the deal with these? They seem like complete crap and hardly do the job they're intended for.
Is it a Warner issue, because I will say my Pinocchio set has hubs that actually securely hold the discs.

No, it's not just you. I don't think it's just a Warner issue either. IIRC the Die Hard Collection BD set also used the same shallow multi-hub design.

Yea, it does seem like it happens to most multi-disc sets.
My Rocky BD collection had IV off the spindle, but wasn't scratched and played perfectly. I bought the slim-case version of Blade Runner and all 5 discs were in-tact with no floaters, but the hubs were tight and felt like the disc was going to snap in half when removing.
I tend to buy the multi-disc sets in store so i could check if any discs are loose.

Yeah, the Hannibal Lecter set from Fox has the same shallow hubs. Some work alright, but others barely hold the disc in place.

They definitely suck. I first bought the DVD version of the Bladerunner (4-disc) set... and within a couple weeks the documentary disc was unwatchable from the scratches because it just floated around. The BD's seem to hold better.

As you noticed, your Pinocchio (from Disney) has better hubs, because it is in a Vortex style/brand case, which is the style used by Disney and Sony....the absolute best comparison you can use to see the difference between the two is with LOST seasons 2 and 3....Vortex does not make a seven disc case, so Disney had to use Viva Elites for seasons 1 and 2, while 3 (and 4 and 5) come in their preferred Vortex style, which definitely have more solid construction and better disc hubs.....

I haven't had a problem with the hubs so much but the damn trays seem to like to fall out of the case pretty often when I go to get a disc out. Every time it seems like it happens and I have to pop it back in place. Kind of annoying.
