Multi-region Blu-ray Player Remote Codes

I'm having trouble finding all the remote codes for the multi-region blu-ray player codes.

Can someone post links to the exact steps and remote codes to play dvds and blu-rays on the popular multi-region players such as the Sherwood BDP-5004 and the Momitsu BDP-899?

I'm new at this and I'm confused.

For example, with the SHERWOOD PDP-5004, what are the exact steps?
First, make sure there is no disc in the tray and then on your remote press:

NTSC Region 1: press ?
NTSC Region 2: press ?
NTSC Region 3: press ?
PAL Region 2: press ?
PAL Region 5: press ?
Blu-ray A: press ?
Blu-ray B: press ?
Blu-ray C: press ?

I think that the Sherwood is a clone of the BDP-899...

Momitsu BDP-899:

973501 is Region Free DVD and playback of Region A Blu-rays
973502 is Region Free DVD and playback of Region B Blu-rays
973503 is Region Free DVD and playback of Region C Blu-rays

Momitsu BDP-799:

875101 is Region Free DVD and playback of Region A Blu-rays
875102 is Region Free DVD and playback of Region B Blu-rays
875103 is Region Free DVD and playback of Region C Blu-rays

Substitute a "1" where the "0" is for the above two sets of codes if you want to set the DVD region to Region 1. This is particularly important for RCE-encoded Region 1 DVDs.

okay, the blu-ray setting is clear, but i'm still confused about playing different Region dvds. When setting Blu-ray codes, you have to press 6 digits, but how many do you press for DVD codes - 5 digits? See below if that's correct or not:

NTSC Region 1 = 97351
NTSC Region 2 = 97352
PAL Region 2 = 97352
PAL Region 5 = 97355

?

Or am I totally confused and this player is automatically region-free, meaning if I want to play any DVD from any country, I don't even have to input a code? That is, the remote codes only apply to playing Blu-Rays from different countries?

973512 is Region 1 DVD and playback of Region B Blu-rays
973513 is Region 1 DVD and playback of Region C Blu-rays

Is this the only section where it's talked about? http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...1178449&page=2

Re: Multi-region Blu-ray Player Remote Codes

Each player typically has its own thread and the codes and such are discussed numerous times (since it's the reason people would actually buy those players).

If you use the codes posted by The Lizard King, you should have no problem playing different region DVDs.

The code breaks down like this...

9735 _ _

You're going to input '9735' every time, no matter what. The last two digits represent the DVD region and the blu-ray region.

The 5th number in the code represents the DVD region.

0 = All Region DVD
1 = Region 1 DVD
2 = Region 2 DVD
3 = Region 3 DVD
4 = Region 4 DVD
5 = Region 5 DVD
6 = Region 6 DVD

So, if you enter the number '0' in the 5th spot every time, you should not have any problems playing any region DVD.

The 6th number in the code represent the blu-ray region.

1 = Region A blu-ray
2 = Region B blu-ray
3 = Region C blu-ray

So, if you enter the code '973502', your player will play any region-coded DVD and Region B blu-rays.

If you enter the code '973543', your player will play Region 4 DVDs and Region C blu-rays.

You're going to enter 6 digits every time. Got it?

Not quite true, at least with my BDP-799. Setting the 5th spot to zero works on all DVDs, EXCEPT RCE-encoded Region 1 DVDs.

Yes, I realize that. That is why I said "should not" instead of "would not." I have the BDP-799, as well, and if I'm just gonna play a Region 1 DVD then I wouldn't mess with putting in any code at all, ya know? Better yet, I'd probably play it on another DVD or blu-ray player instead of the Momitsu.

I hear ya.

There are two types of DVDs that I still play on my Oppo DV-970HD:

1. RCE-encoded Region 1 DVDs. I don't want to mess with punching a new code through the remote, either. I guess I'm just lazy that way.

2. Non-anamorphic WS (letterboxed) DVDs. My BDP-799 has no zoom function, whereas the Oppo does (and it's quite good).

Re: Multi-region Blu-ray Player Remote Codes

surprised that the Momitsu remote codes have never been talked about before....

oh and by the way, I took my player to work one day and brought it home, but forgot my remote control at work over the weekend. without the remote, you're out of luck playing anything. Those front panel controls are limited and pretty useless. Currently, I'm back to using the old DVD player again....

Re: Multi-region Blu-ray Player Remote Codes

WARNING... For those of you with the BDP-899/899 clones, DON'T take the March 2010 firmware upgrade. Apparently, it disables playing of Region B and C BDs:

http://forums.highdefdigest.com/blu-...er-26.html#381

There's no way I'm taking the inevitable firmware update for my BDP-799!
