christ. It would seem like half/most of the movie is all battle scenes, and everything else gets cut out. I mean the battle scene at the end of pt 2 is 40 minutes long. I'd be interested to see a detailed comparison as to what got cut. I also heard that the US version littereally starts with the first battle, cutting out the opening 10 minutes

Re: Red Cliff Blu ray which edition?

I have both the HK and UK versions but haven't even watched them yet LOL. I know I won't be giving those assholes at Magnolia any more of my $ after the LTROI debacle.

I'm just waiting to find some time to watch them. Upon a cursory comparison the PQ seemed like a wash. Audio seemed the same but maybe a tad better on the HK. I'm just trying to find if my part 1 HK has the watermark - I'd tried forwarding in to see if it was there but never saw it. Probably have to watch in real-time to see it I guess.

Possibly, but Magnolia has become a sub-par Blu-ray distributor. Their typical standard level of quality, if applied to Red Cliff, is unlikely to match the U.K. edition.

Ong Bak was Fox. Magnolia did Ong Bak 2.

Magnolia's pretty decent on the whole, and they have an awesome library of films that I'm very thankful have gotten Blu-Ray releases at all. I'm sure their Red Cliff release will be perfectly serviceable.

I still have to watch thsi since it's in my 'to watch' stack

I hope the audio downmixes to 6.1 since 'The Warlords' bluray does.

I'm still on the fence on whether or not to purchase the Magnolia BR edition, since I have Part II on blu but not Part 1 (only on DVD)

"Serviceable" does not fill me with much hope. I hope they simply port over the HK release (A/V, subs, and whatever extras), slap a Magnolia logo on the disc startup, and call it a night.

Re: Red Cliff Blu ray which edition?

I am really looking forward to this movie. I had preordered the US international release, but ordered the UK one anyway, since it was less than the US price. I will probably end up cancelling my preorder, unless some new report comes inthat the US disc is going to be better than the UK one.

I UK one is out of order for international. The "in stock" means only for UK. I am wondering if the US one is same as UK, since the publisher of the US has a bad reputation.

Re: Red Cliff Blu ray which edition?

Other than effing up the subtitles of Let The Right One In (a mistake they'd be crazy to repeat) what else did they do wrong?

I don't get why they don't simply port over the HK release and slap a Magnolia logo on it.

I agree, they should just port HK release for all the HK blu ray. It's no reason to make a new one and delete something.

Re: Red Cliff Blu ray which edition?

Anyone able to find any reviews for the Magnolia release? The date is fast approaching and I want to know if I should keep or cancel my order.

Yeah, just saw that. Seems like Magnet did a good job? Anyone disagree on that? Also...does the international cut Blu have all the features that the Theatrical has. For some reason I've been unable to find details on that up on heres on the internet.

Just buy the international edition, theatrical one cut a 288 mins. movie to 148. I don't think it's reasonable.

I know the Theatrical was cut down but...does the international cut have all the features? That's the game changer for me. Regardless I'm getting the International...but I'll get the Theatrical cut too if I need to have my features due to the International NOT having them.

Very confused about how many international editions released this time? BTW, I got the $25.49 one from Amazon.

It's simple. There are three: Part I, Part II, and a bundle that includes both. The one you ordered on Amazon includes both. The ones you linked from Best Buy are the individual ones.

A member over at Blu-ray.com was kind enough to provide me with the following:

If the International Cut looks just as good, it's a keeper.

Re: Red Cliff Blu ray which edition?

The longer cut IS the international cut. What Beaver posted was caps from the theatrical cut.

Re: Red Cliff Blu ray which edition?

I know that. That's why I said "if the International Cut looks just as good, it's a keeper." In other words, if the US release of the longer international cut looks as good as the BD release of the US shortened theatrical cut, it's a keeper.
