Re: Spielberg's WAR OF THE WORLDS >> 6/1

It would be cool if this had the deleted sequence where Cruise is hiding behind a suv when the tripod is reaching for him in Boston? There was a photo released that showed something to this effect.

I might get this depending on price, but that 2-disc set has incredible sound already, and the PQ is quite solid.

DVDActive has the cover art now. Looks the same as the one-disc DVD release from 2005. Too bad. The Limited Edition artwork was excellent.

This is decent enough to grab a bargain or used copy at some point. The review looks great

I hope this goes on sale soon... $15 and I'll definitely bite.

Oh, this will be cheaper soon enough. I won't bite for more than $10... and will have it soon enough.

I wonder if they could just sell me the first 30 minutes of the film for $5.

Yeah, that's going to be the price point for me as well.

Love the movie, but I don't mind waiting for it 'til Black Friday where it'll probably be for $10 or less.

Another that will definitely purchase it, but am convinced that it will be $10 or less before the year is out.

I hope so, especially for us in Canada. Prices are funny here. I'm holding out for this and Minority Report at around ten apiece.

I don't know what's up with this title in SD... but at my local rental places, they have had this title forever at the lowest possible used price. They just can't give it away. My local BB recently priced it $1.99 (down from the 'clearance' price of $3.99) along with a bunch other crappy titles. It stands out in that bin in a big way.

the only explanation can be that it's just a ridiculously horrible movie.

Just got my copy at Best Buy. Is this release supposed to come with a slipcover? I didn't see any, but that's not exactly conclusive.

I went to Best Buy and Walmart. Both stores just had the Blu Ray in the standard blue case. No slipcovers. I thought for sure there would be one, since Minority Report had the nifty lenticular sleeve.

I have had the DVD for years...only watched it with the 2.0 track before I had a surround system. Now that I have a surround system, I'm scared to play the disc for fear of blowing out the subwoofer!

Re: Spielberg's WAR OF THE WORLDS >> 6/1

Tom Cruise and his young daughter actually get captured by a tripod and manage to escape - among many other harrowing incidents. Then they make their way to Boston unscathed - as Tom Cruise tells the military that they can shoot the tripods now - yet having the son show up alive is preposterous? I've never understood this hang up.

How would you tie up the son storyline?

By letting him die the moment he gets stupid and goes off into that destruction...the way we all assumed it was.
