How much are you wanting to sell your True Detective code for? I may be interested.

I did the Amazon option on some titles. But always thought you had to just purchase that particular title. In fact once when I forgot to purchase the title I did order a different title & was charged for it. I had to call to get credit back. In fact it shows $35 of AMAZON INSTANT VIDEO credit in my account now. From some Amazon digital copies I entered. Does this mean I can use these to purchase other titles?

ANy one know what other titles use the Amazon option?

Good Evening Everyone …..

My question may seem a little ignorant /please forgive me ….

If the Digital Code on one's Blu Ray Disc purchase has "expired" does this also mean that, in effect, they won't be able to watch the movie AT ALL in HD (even on their High Definition TV) …??

I am a little naïve in terms of the latest technology and I am having a very hard time figuring it out …..

Most grateful for your advice, Thank You,

Regards, Sean

A lot of Digital codes that have expired still work. Why not just try & enter the HD Digital Code & see what happens. If it does not work just email the
company who made the movie & see if they will give you a new code.

The digital code is kind of like a gift certificate with an expiration date on it. You have until the date to redeem it to get the product (the digital copy of the movie). If you redeem it in time, you (theoretically) own the movie forever and can watch it whenever you want, even after the code expires. However, if the code expires before you redeem it, you don't get the product.

That said, many of these codes continue to work even after the expiration date. It doesn't hurt to try it. If you've established a Movies Anywhere account (which is recommended), try redeeming it through there if the original instructions don't work. MA is sometimes more lenient about expiration dates than other services.

I jumped on the digital redeem bandwagon late... Fortunately, with few exceptions, codes 2+ yrs past expiration still redeemed.

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

Thank You Everyone,

For your great feedback and direction. Truly grateful :)

I in fact only own a regular DVD player, but I do plan on buying a Blu-Ray Disc Player in the near future (to play the higher quality HD Blu-ray movies) ….

My chief concern had been that, should the code on a Blu-ray I purchase expire, I may not be able to watch the Blu Ray I purchase in High Definition on my Flat-Screen TV Set / hence I may be better off sticking to my DVD player and regular discs.

But you all have clarified things for me ..many thanks again. You are right with reference to checking the codes to see if they are still valid …..I have heard this often before.

Off the topic, I recently purchased some of the latter Roger Moore James Bond Films on DVD (they apparently came out with TWO most recent productions - the 2012 releases and the 2015 (the latest) version of the James Bond individual DVD series (also available on Blu-ray).

So you see, my thinking was that, would it be worthwhile purchasing these movies on Blu Ray /seeing them in even greater Frame by Frame restoration /as I LOVE Roger Moore's Bond Films!

Thanks Again for all your help and advice, Kind Wishes,

Sean

Unfortunately, the James Bond Blu-rays are hit-or-miss for quality. At the time they were released, only some of the movies actually had new restorations, while the rest came from dated video masters. Of the Moore films, Live and Let Die, The Spy Who Loved Me, and Moonraker are the best looking. The others range from decent to poor.

MGM recently remastered the entire Bond series in 4k, but those video transfers are currently only available for streaming through iTunes and have not been released on disc.

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

So I have a bunch of old Disney Blu rays with digital copy (and that stupid digital copy disk). It seems like you used to redeem them at Disneymovierewards.com, but since the disney specific digital streaming site closed, I haven't been able to redeem anything. I know most people said that expired codes still work but has anyone been able to redeem expired disney/marvel codes?

I tried directly on moviesanywhere and it doesn't recognize the codes.

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

Yeah, you may have missed that window for those older codes. But MA customer service is very good. It wouldn’t hurt to contact them and let them know you want to redeem them. They may provide updated codes.

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

I have never ever used the Disney digital copy disc, but I have received the digital copies for those films just by entering the code at disneymoverewards.com. I wasn't really concerned about digital copies at the time I was doing that, I was just looking for rewards points, but entering the code automatically gave me access to the digital copy from Disney, which automatically transferred to DisneyMoviesAnywhere when that became a thing and later transferred to MoviesAnywhere. It probably doesn't redeem that way anymore. but I agree with E Unit, it can't hurt to ask CS.

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

So the ones with the disc + code have to be entered in iTunes.
They unfortunately only redeem in SD quality now. If you have iTunes connected to MA, it will port to all connected MA providers.

If you don't have the disc there is an XML work around.

The other Disney site still works: redeemdigitalmovie.com (but not for disc codes). It should at least verify it by saying you have to redeem at iTunes by inserting the disc (or something along those lines). I believe you'll get the same/similar message if you just enter the code in iTunes before launching the disc.

Edit to add: I think you're thinking of the old DisneyMoviesAnywhere (DMA) for movies, and disneymovierewards (DMR) is for the points to get rewards.

fujishig 03-08-19 06:20 PM

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

It used to be that you'd redeem it on DMR and get points and the digital copy on DMA. The code actually still redeems on DMR but all I get are points.

I put the disk in and it tries to connect to some domain that is no longer available.

PhantomStranger 03-09-19 03:43 PM

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

There's a workaround for disc-based codes using an XML file, which I've never actually used. It dupes the code into thinking you have the disc and then redeems fine on iTunes.

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

Are the expiration dates always on point? I never did anything with my digital copies over the years but I just recently decided to try and get rid of them/sell them. Has anyone ever heard of an expired DC working? Just wondering if I should just toss them or not.

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

Any code passed expiration has the potential to work. Some will work at every provider. Some will only work at a few providers. Some will only work via the listed link in the insert. Some links in the insert are no longer valid with some of those old links actually going to scam sites now. Some codes are no good even before expiration due to a studio going out of business. Some codes have multiomu redemptions if used via multiple providers. Some codes provide higher resolution with one provider / method of redemption while less with others. Some providers will provide a better resolution than the code depending on title studio etc. Some codes require the disc to be able to redeem.

I state all that to say it can depend on the code and/or studio and/or way of redemption. I would suggest that you Do Not throw them out. While selling them may have an issue as stated, the codes may offer benefit if still active beyond expiration and s a purchaser may get what they pay for or better. At worst, give the codes away.

Here is a Google Doc that details many of the redemption providers and if a code may have myltmult redeems.

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

Yeah I did something similar. I had no interest until about a year ago (I still don't, for the most part) but decided to go through all my cases and just redeem everything I could for future use. I had plenty that were expired, but IIRC, the only ones that I had issues with were the old codes that you had to use the physical disc to redeem. I want to say the vast majority (if not all) that were just expired codes worked just fine.

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

In doing some purging recently, I found some old codes (including a couple from DVD's), and some of them worked. In all, I think the most recent code had expired a few years ago.

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

I have been checking my digital files for the past couple of weeks but the state of the Digital Redemption here in Canada sucks!

I have my cousin from the US, set me up with Movies Anywhere and Vudu accounts in order to somewhat centralize the location of all of my digital files.

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

Dear Friends,

Many Thanks for the great feedback and advice from all of you; both in terms of my Bond DVDs / and also in terms of the Digital Codes Information.

My apologies for the late reply.

Well I have got some news / a bit of a surprise …..just purchased a 2015 MGM release of For Your Eyes Only (Roger Moore as Bond) on DVD (NOT Blu Ray) and was pleasantly surprised to find a coupon for a Digital Code inside!! Have not checked whether it works but assume it does, based on the feedback I have gotten here ….

And on a side note / I may add / also purchased MGM's 2015 DVD (not Blu-Ray) Digitally Restored A View To A Kill, and Octopussy …..pretty darn good quality with the frame by frame restoration and Hi-Fi sound…..they also came out with a 2012 MGM earlier release (which, in my opinion, contains superior SOUND than the 2015 one / I have both versions /purchased on eBay).

It was kinda weird watching those early 'eighties movies in clear vivid picture and awesome sound…..I recommend them to all Bond fans!

Many Thanks Again!

So I finally figured this out. For a lot of older Disney/Marvel titles that come with the digital copy disc, like I said before they won't work standalone because the website they used to point to is down. But if you open itunes and put in the disc, you can redeem them via a pop up in itunes no problem.

Re: Check your Digital Copies to see if they've expired

That's great you can still use them in iTunes, that way you still get them ported over to MA, and can watch them in Vudu, etc.
