Anyone excited about Black Dynamite? On BD Feb 16.
From Amazon:
When drug dealers take out his kid brother, ex-CIA agent Black Dynamite (Spawn's Michael Jai White) makes like a karate-chopping dynamo to track them down. Armed with a .44 Magnum, a set of nunchucks, and a sexy 'stache, Big D starts out in the City of Angels, where his buddies Cream Corn (In Living Color's Tommy Davidson), a hustler, and Bullhorn (co-writer Byron Minns), a club owner, offer to lend a hand. The deeper Dynamite digs, the more endangered his life becomes as he uncovers a conspiracy to keep the black man down by flooding the streets with malt liquor and filling the country's orphanages with smack. Since the smooth operator has a way with the ladies, he also enlists Gloria (I Am Legend's Salli Richardson-Whitfield), a socially-conscious soul sister, to aid in his clean-up campaign. Director Scott Sanders and White, who co-wrote the script, collaborated on 1998's Thick as Thieves, and their chemistry shines through. If the supporting cast can be a little wooden, White gives Shaft's Richard Roundtree a run for the money with his cool-cat charisma. Set in 1972, Black Dynamite doesn't just act like a movie from the Superfly era, it looks and sounds like one, too, courtesy Adrian Younge's old-school funk score, Shawn Maurer's 16mm cinematography, a cartoon credit sequence, and some carefully choreographed boom mic appearances. And dig those crazy cameos: Arsenio Hall as Tasty Freeze, Brian McKnight as Sweet Meat, and NBA veteran John Salley as Kotex. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
I saw the trailer for this before Zombieland on BD, and this looks outstandingly funny. Upon reading some reviews, it looks like this is a real winner. Anyone else see this and/or excited about it?

We plan on watching this in a double feature with Avenging Disco Godfather. Espicially since Black Dynamite seems to be inspired by it.

I pre-ordered that shit before I came into the room!
Best comedy of '09 (along with Observe & Report). I can't wait to watch it in hi-def along with all the bonus goodies.

I haven't seen it, but I do plan on purchasing it. Will probably get it from Amazon because it doesn't look like BB will have a very good price on it release week.

This movie is such a blast. Definitely getting it. Debating if I wait a few weeks to see if the price drops below $20... I laughed through the entire movie. Hope they make a sequel someday.

Weird. I know it's available online and stuff, but not one single B&M store had this in today - nothing.

Just watched this tonight (rental) and had a blast with it. There was about 10 minutes in the middle I thought was a bit slow, but then it kicked it up a notch again and finished with a bang. I will be buying this tomorrow!

I'll probably end up ordering this off Amazon, or waiting for the BD to drop past $20.

I've noticed a few differences from the theatrical cut. One of them was a change of what I thought was one of the funniest moments in the movie (When Cream Corn say "The white man!").
The blu ray also doesn't include the kick-ass trailer, which is also a disappointment.

I was really looking forward to watching this one also. Rented it last night, and just as you said, I was really 'digging' it, but then, I don't know, it just got boring/redundant after a while with all of the conspiracy this and that. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it.

AsianX, I forgot to sincerely thank you for suggesting Rasputin (and Amoeba) as places to check out DVD's/BD's when I went to San Francisco a few months back. Rasputin was quite a hoot, so much to look at there. And that elevator was a hoot.
