Tombstone -- May 4th

I felt it was bigger news than Armageddon.

I've yet to fully see this film. I've seen the shit out of Wyatt Earp and like that cuz that's what I grew up with. The scenes I did see of Tombstone never really pulled me into it but..it was just short scenes that I did see. No matter what Kurt Russell has never done wrong by me....except for declining The Expendables

When initially released, I also preferred Wyatt Earp (I thought Costner could do no wrong at the time). I'm not exactly sure what it was, but about 10 yrs ago I tried and just couldn't get thru Earp. It's been all Tombstone since!

I will miss the DVD DC packaging - one of the best imo.

Similar to Fight Club, a high quality fold-out digipak. Great design inside and out.

For movies with better DVD packaging than the BD, I just switch the discs. I know the hright difference will bother some, but I don't mind.

Well, seeing as how I have Tombstone on DVD, and never cared to own Armageddon, we'll have to agree to disagree. -ptth-

I agree - I saw Armageddon in the theater, and don't remember thinking it was all that great. I've never seen it since.

Tombstone however is a classic. I've never seen Wyatt Earp to compare, but Kilmer is great in this movie.

You mean anamorphic?

The "Vista Series" DVD was anamorphic widescreen (2.40:1 aspect ratio). However, it's one of the most disgustingly Edge Enhanced transfers ever.

Another reason I may have to upgrade.

Got rid of mine ages ago in anticipation of the BR release. I have Wyatt Earp also but I think Tombstone is the better movie.

Armageddon is one of the worst films ever made in my opinion. To each his own I guess. I hope they involve Kurt Russell. I read an article that he really directed it and has hours of footage literally in his garage. He says he plans on revisting this one day. He said every character had a story arc and they were all filmed. This is why it was such a troubled productions other than fight for locations and costumes with Wyatt Earp.

The bits strongly suggests this wont be the Director's Cut.

Has Disney yet botched a BD release? I'm actually asking if they have or not. Not that I can recall. The Rock had a pretty good release.
