I'm surprised they are taking so long to release this. Especially considering the movie sat on the shelf for a while.

Including the DVD is great. The best option, though, would be to encode the digital copy on a SD-DVD, so that it serves a dual purpose. The fact that they use separate discs seems incredibly wasteful.

Warner uses one disc to contain the SD-DVD and digital copy, unlike other studios (ahem, Disney).

Definitely going to check this out. Didn't get a chance to see it in theaters.

Day one purchase. Loved the film and really wanted to see it again in the theatres, but never got the chance. Can't wait to see it on blu.

Completely disagree....if it doesn't affect the final price consumers pay, how does it hurt anyone?
I personally find the digital copies useless, but the inclusion of a standard DVD is nice (as others have stated to take in a car or other rooms in the house)....but even if you'll never use them, what's the harm if it doesn't cost you anymore for the title? Over time, they might even help increase format adoption, and isn't that a good thing in the long run?
I mean, look, The Final Destination just came out last week, and the BD combo pack was only $19.99, a mere $3 more than the DVD by itself...also, look how cheap some people have been able to pick up Disney combo packs with their coupons and sale prices....unless the combo packs start spiking new release titles back into the $29.99 and over price points, I'm fine with them....

I think he was kidding, and to the first poster, this ad isn't for consumers, it's for retailers. They advertise how much money it made so that people stocking the DVDs will say to themselves "wow, this movie made a lot of money in the theaters so it's probably going to move some inventory, I better buy a lot."

Like the cover but walked out of the theatre after 3/4 of the movie. Wish it could have been better. Maybe I wasnt in the mood to see it but the kid in the film was a pain to watch on screen.

Really? That was one of the most honest performances by a kid, of a kid, that i've ever seen.

Maybe Ill have to rent it then and watch it through all the way. Maybe I wasnt in the mood or something but it just annoyed me and I had to leave before I yelled at the movie.

wish it could been better? you only watched 3/4 of the movie - I really don't pay any heed to people who walk out of a movie and come to a conclusive broad overview of a movie when they didn't watch the entire film - yeah you really DO need to rewatch the movie.

I don't know how long it sat on the shelf at Warner's, but I do know that a preview cut totally freaked out a largely kid comprised audience that Warner's did a double take and became quite nervous in releasing it to the masses. Whether Jonze did some reshoot/reediting is speculative since that's the rumour.

I wish they would have released a special edition that included that cut. I'm dying to know what was in it, since the final cut had some pretty dark things in it as well.

We'll more about this if Jonze gives us a commentary. Which I hope he would.

Jonze is a gifted visual storyteller. Unfortunately, he does not have the gift of gab in the slightest and sounds borderline retarded in interviews - I can't imagine him doing a commentary for two hours.

They could have done a Criterion-style commentary with Jonze, KK Barrett, Lance Acord, Dave Eggers and Maurice Sendak.

Way to go, Warner Brothers. By including the short Higglety Pigglety Pop only on the Blu Ray, in order to try and force people who have no interest in the format to upgrade anyway, you have killed any chance of my buying the standard dvd either. Brilliant.

I'd advise you to take this complaint to the DVD Forum, as I am sure you'll find more agreement there in one of their multitude of pre-existing threads on this worn out subject than you will here....
