Duplicate disc in HD-DVD, what to do?

I just discovered that my copy of Alexander Revisited HD-DVD had 2 Disc-2s and no Disc-1. Any idea what to do? It's not like I can walk into a store and buy another one. Does anyone have contact info for WB to see if they even have these anymore to exchange?

They are no longer in production but Warner should have enough 'extra' copies to fix it for you. If not, they may just offer to send you the Blu-ray.

Hopefully that's the case. I'm dual format, so HD-DVD or BD are both fine. I couldn't find a direct e-maill address so I used the feedback form on their website. We'll see if I get any kind of response.

Question: How long have you had that thing to not notice it?

Maybe he bought it a couple years ago and just never took the shrink wrap off of it until now? I know I still have some like that (not so much BD, but some DVD sets)....

Had it for awhile, but just opened it. I have a very large collection and oftentimes I don't get around to watching something right away.

Re: Duplicate disc in HD-DVD, what to do?

I've got almost every HD-DVD title put out, and I'm just now getting an HDTV this week! Obviously that means I haven't watched any of the discs yet, but I've opened and inspected all of them. I got a copy of "Caddyshack" from Inetvideo that had NO disc at all inside, but they sent me a new one.

All media I buy gets opened right away for reasons like this, even if it doesn't get watched for another decade.

As it turns out, I received a pretty quick response to my feedback query on their website. They are sending me a pre-paid mailer to send it in and will mail me a new copy. Seems like pretty good customer service and it's not like I have nothing else to watch while I wait.

I certainly understand your thinking and I used to do the same. It may sound stupid, but as a collector I usually buy many more movies than I can get to right away. I found that I was often selling off old versions when SEs, non-flipper, BD, HD-DVD, Unrated, widescreen, etc. versions came out and I hadn't even watched the original yet. Obviously, I could get more for them on a site like ebay or even return them to a store with a liberal return policy (I buy a lot at Costco and have all my receipts filed) if they were still unopened. I do run into the occasional problem, but selling off double-dipped/OOP titles that are still sealed has saved/made me much more money than I've lost from problem discs. What was unique about this situation was it being an HD-DVD which obviously isn't still being produced.

Can you link me to where you filled out the form? I have a bad disc for Supernatural S1 on DVD and never got a response back from them when I sent in my request a few months ago. You might have found a better contact than me.

Gizmo,

Filled out this form:

http://www.warnerbros.com/main/help/...r_service.html

Chose Home Video and DVD as the topic. Got a reply the same day. Good luck!

Nor do you have this film to watch either. Good on WB for coming through for you.

Would that work for HBO DVD's too? My Curb Your Enthusiasm S4 set is missing segments from episodes. I bought it at Circuit City before they closed, and got screwed over.

Re: Duplicate disc in HD-DVD, what to do?

I just submitted a question about it to HBO Shop online. Hopefully someone helps me. Missing segments of episodes is B.S., and I have no way to exchange it in store.
