The 36th Chamber of Shaolin - 3/2/10 ???

Up for preorder for March 2, The 36th Chamber of Shaolin. Said to be released by Vivendi, which recently inked a deal with Genius, which releases Weinstein product, which operates Dragon Dynasty, which released the DVD edition. Would presumably be the first Dragon Dynasty release on BD, and perhaps the first release from this Vivendi deal. Here is to many more following swiftly.

I'm wondering how the quality of the picture will be? I never got this on DVD so I might be in a for Blu-Ray release.

There is a serious lacking of classic Kung-Fu on Blu-Ray. It may be the most underrated genre to get the HD treatment. Opium Master is stunning when taking into account the source material. I realize there is a very small fanbase for this stuff, but some studio needs to pick up the slack & put out more classics.
And I guess I'm wrong, but I thought Dragon Dynasty went belly-up?

If this release actually happens and is anywhere as good as the SD Dragon Dynasty version, then this is a must buy for all Shaw Bros. fans. The SD version was the definite version of the movie and better than the R3 version.
DD is not out of business yet but their release schedule have dried up considerably.

I'm really excited about this announcement, but as others have said, I'm just hoping it doesn't get royally screwed up.

The PQ of the DVD was great, I just picked it up myself and watched it last weekend. I'd rebuy it on Blu-Ray in a minute though if it gets a decent release.

I was one of those around here who was highly critical of DD's releases, so I'm happy to see one of my favorite releases of theirs will be getting all the extras.

Wow, that is awful, glad I didn't sell of the DVD re-release. There is zero reason to upgrade this to Blu-Ray. What a shame.
