My dreams should I ever be very successful in the filmmaking business is to somehow buy all these HK R1 rights and release them properly damnit.

They are a bunch of idiots. No other words to describe the fuck up on the transfer for the 36th Chamber.

And this was their response on their Facebook page:
With due respect to DVD Beaver, the difference between the SD and BD experience depends heavily on each individual viewer’s home entertainment setup - the vast majority of consumers will see a gigantic improvement going from The 36th Chamber SD to BD.

They are correct...I have my DVD player hooked up to a 13" B&W Zenith TV and my Blu-ray hooked up to a 50" Sony HDTV and I definitely see a big difference between the two transfers.

Oh fucking hell.

The sad thing is that I may still get this, if only because I never got around to getting the DVD. But it isn't very high on my list...

If I were you, I'll try to get the SD DVD as it was a solid release by DD.

I already sold my DVD. I think I'll be less displeased with this than most of you. Interlacing is really not a huge problem for me, though not ideal. I just hope they don't make it a habit.

I'm glad that I didn't sell off my DVD copy, why the blu-ray looks inferior to the DVD is beyond me - just tragic

I think that the DVD being inferior to the BD is debatable, especially on a large monitor. Just because it isn't progressive doesn't mean it will be terrible. At least it won't be upscaled.

Upscale/not an upscale--I'm inclined to say its a genuine HD transfer. But at first glance, the DVD still looks better so I'll hold off until it shows up in the bargain bin and maybe I'll pick it up.

My beef is certainly not with the picture quality. I expected much worse and, for the most part, looks great for its age.

Sometimes I experience some jitter during certain scenes. It doesn't matter if it's an action scene or a heavy dialogue scene. And it's not all the way through - it just comes out sometimes. I'm not sure if it's my BR player, my TV, my receiver, the cables I use, or the disc itself. The vast majority of my BR collection does not have this problem. I have tried to tweak the motion enhancement on my HDTV with no real improvement.

That's the transfer. Since it is interlaced we get those jitters.
