Blu-Ray Question
Hey All-
Can someone explain to me why some BD moves start in letter box, then go to 'full screen' (anamorphic- not 4:3), then back to lb, etc? I don't own many BDs, but noticed it more this weekend when watching Transformers. It seems the action scenes are in full screen- is that because those scenes were filmed with different media?

Re: Blu-Ray Question
I'm guessing you bought Transformers:ROTF at Walmart, eh?
A few select scenes in that movie were filmed in IMAX....the Walmart exclusive "Big Screen" edition of that film presents the IMAX filmed footage in an expanded 1.78:1 ratio.....the vast majority of the movie was filmed on 35mm and has a "scope" aspect ratio that is letterboxed...
The only other current BD that I know of that does this aspect ratio switching during a film is The Dark Knight (as it also had scenes filmed in IMAX).....all copies of TDK do that, however, only the Walmart exclusive version of Transformers: ROTF features the aspect ratio switching in the IMAX filmed scenes....
