hi does anyone have news on Martyrs BLU RAY FOR USA VERISON or even date for release ? All im aware of is that the uncut DVD is out in USA and a UK BLU RAY version but not sure if uncut and there''s a french version on BLU RAY with no subs. Why is is this taking so long for BLU RAY USA version ? im told the UK one is uncut but i dont belive it as the film censors here are crazy and all ways make cuts and edits to movies that why i love USA as its normally uncut and this way it should be for all movies and not have some fat old man in a suit and tie job who works for the censors saying cut cut etc take that bit out blah blah telling as what we can and cant watch just cause he dont like it.

I believe The Weinsteins has the US rights to it and they are no longer publishing Blu-rays. Will they ever start up? Doubtful. Best chance is if another studio comes in and buys them out and starts releasing their catalog. It'll be a while...

Re: Any news on martyrs blue ray ?
The Weinstein Co. said Tuesday that it has inked an exclusive home-entertainment distribution deal with Vivendi Entertainment covering all catalog titles.
The pact also is expected to produce 20 direct-to-DVD releases within a year. The arrangement effectively replaces Genius Products as a distributor of Weinstein catalog, though officials have not announced an arrangement for future new-release titles.

That does not mean Weinstein will actually produce those Blu-rays. Genius was not the problem with getting Blu-rays out, it was Weinstein. IIRC, I don't think they even have an L.A. Office anymore (they either fired everyone or its a skeleton crew). Really hope Universal buys their catalog.

Vivendi Entertainment, a division of Universal Music Group Distribution, is taking over the core home entertainment distribution operations of Genius Products. As a result of the deal, the financial terms of which were not disclosed, Vivendi's catalog is expected to grow 200% to more than 3,000 titles.
Vivendi will distribute Genius' own library, which includes the arthouse Wellspring line, and future releases for an unspecified number of years.
Until early this year, Genius was majority-owned by The Weinstein Company (TWC) and has been distributing TWC titles to retail. Precisely the scarcity of box office hits from this indie studio is what put Genius in financial trouble.
No information was given as to how Blu-ray output would be impacted by the acquisition. As of now, neither Genius nor Weinstein have any Blu-ray product announced (see our post of June 8). The only Genius title that was pre-announced, 'Iron Man: Armored Adventures Vol.1', is up for preorder at Amazon but without a release date.
Sources said Vivendi will assume distribution of TWC's catalog and some new direct-to-video titles, but TWC's new release theatricals are expected to move to another distributor (Universal Home Video, in the case of 'Inglourious Basterds').
Prior to the deal, Vivendi already distributed Shout! Factory, Palisades Tartan, Codeblack, Eebee's Adventures and other lines. Last year, Vivendi added a theatrical distribution arm to handle eight to 14 films per year.
