Some good suggestions here. Thanks for the input.
As far as Blade Runner goes, I already have the DVD Briefcase. Is it worth it to pick up the 5-disc Blu Ray edition again?

Some BD's I would highly recommend you rent first: "The Departed", "Shawshank" and "L.A. Confidental". All from Warner Brothers. Who have a bad reputation for releasing crap efforts. The skin tone on all three has this very odd pink/red hue to them. It's very distracting. I'm most pissed at the "L.A. Confidential" BD. It's barely better than the recent SD.

To the OP: You mentioned the Blu-Ray player and HDTV, what kind of sound system do you have? Also what size HDTV did you get?
Recommendations (no particular order):
The Dark Knight (awesome pic quality and sound, true demo quality)
Iron Man (PQ & Sound)
Blade Runner: The Final Cut (never thought the ol' movie could look so damn good)
As an aside, if you ever think about it, I would pas on the Blu-Ray of Shoot 'em Up. I got the DVD cheap and later got a decent deal on the BD. I thought it (PQ and sound) would be much better on BD. To me, the differences don't warrant the "BD premium".
Also, if you can get a good deal, I would recommend The Matrix BD and The Matrix:Reloaded BD. But only if you can get a good deal, particularly if you already own them on DVD and have a decent upconverting player.
Congrats on joining the HD community.

Re: Just upgraded to HD and Blu Ray---Can you recommend 10 best BR's to get.
I have an RCA RT2600 with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound along with DTS Surround Sound.
My HDTV is relatively small (26 inches 720p) and was relatively inexpensive at around $270, which is all I could really afford. But, I think it's a pretty solid TV and a great price. I couldn't get anything bigger because the space it goes in (A big Wood Entertainment Center Cabinet) only fits 26 inches.
Anyways, I picked up The Dark Knight yesterday from Best Buy for $18.99 and tested it out today and it's fricking amazing. Also, love the extra bonus features, which my 2-disc SD DVD severely lacked.
Today I ordered Blade Runner (5-disc Blu-Ray) for $21.99 off Amazon and also ordered Batman Begins Blu-Ray for $13.99 also off Amazon.
Actually I was really hesistant to re-order Blade Runner since I already own the 5-disc SD Briefcase that came out 2 years ago and the Blu-Ray has all the exact same features and I paid $60 for it. But, some of the comments here persuaded me and it's only $21.99. Even though It's double dipping, I don't want to get rid of the Briefcase since it's now out of print. I bought Batman Begins to be a completist even though I've read mixed reviews about it.

BTW, earlier in the week I picked up Fringe Season 1 Blu-Ray and it's freaking amazing. I also got Crank 2, but haven't had a chance to go through it.
I have a major complaint about T2: Skynet Edition. I absolutely hate that they moved most of the old behind the scenes documentaries to BD Live and you have to download them to your flashdrive. It literally took 1 hour to download the Making of Terminator 2. It says there is almost 8 hours of bonus materials on the Blu-Ray, so why the hell couldn't these documentaries stay on the disc? If that's the case I might as well watch them off my Ultimate Edition SD DVD.

Re: Just upgraded to HD and Blu Ray---Can you recommend 10 best BR's to get.
I just picked up Jackie Chan's "Shinjuku Incident" on bluray last week and it looked great in HD. Especially love the far view shots of Tokyo. Looks stunning! The Matrix trilogy looks great on bluray as well. But for reference quality video and audio, I would have to say that John Woo's Red Cliff movies is "it". The visuals are amazing beyond description. You'll just have to see it for yourself.
Also, Donnie Yen's "Flashpoint" is pretty good on bluray as well.

Re: Just upgraded to HD and Blu Ray---Can you recommend 10 best BR's to get.
Before I buy a blu ray, and I do buy blind occasionally, I look at a few very reputable blu ray review sites, which certainly includes DVD Talk, and read the reviews to learn about the quality of the movie, PQ, and AQ. Of course there are blu's I don't own that are excellent movies and have excellent PQ (e.g. Bourne movies), and then there are (IMO) not so good movies that have excellent PQ (e.g. Speed Racer). So...each to their own.
Of the blu's I own, here a short list of show-off PQ (alphabetical):
Across the Universe
Band of Brothers
Blade Runner
Chronicles of Riddick
Dragon Hunter
Fifth Element (Remastered)
I Robot
Kingdom of Heaven
Kung Fu Panda
Matrix
Pirates of the Caribbean (all three)
Ratatouille
Robin Hood (1939!!)

Only bad part about the movie is there have been a few that have issues loading the movie. I know you do have to load an "update"if your player has BDLive capabilities(atleast thats what Lionsgate is calling it).

Some of my favorite audio/and visual wise
Apoclypto
300
Watchmen
Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian
Harry Potter Series
Wolverine Origins is coming out this Tuesday too, I'd reccomend that also. And for an oddity, pick up Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D. It's just your basic red/blue glasses but some of the scenes are pretty impressive for just your "basic" (not TrueD) 3D. It'll give ya a nice preview of the eventual True3D in home experience that's sure to come in the near future.

Yeah, turning off 120hz/240hz options is a must IMO for watching movies.

I have my BD player set to play at 24fps. My TV has a 24p setting also, I wonder if I need to set them both that way.

I'd definitely get any Pixar films, the Planet Earth series and Band of Brothers just off the top of my head.
