I actually enjoyed the scenes, but I agree that Nolan's execution was lightyears better.
Once the Aspect Ratio changed in TF2, it was a huge "Holy Shit" moment for me. The detail/clarity went into overdrive! It anything, it serves as great demo material. That being said, that forest scene was amazing. I loved how it just jumped out at you. The clarity and definition were just first rate. I'll catch the last hour sometime today. Being in my 20's when transformers were a hot toy I never knew any of the characters. The first one was pretty good explaining the back story for us neophytes however on this one quite a bit is going on. It will take a couple viewings before I know who's who. |

Glad I didn't see this one in the theater. |

Dude, I was the PERFECT age when the toys were out, and I owned and played with TONS of them. (They have since gone on to buy me a new laptop, as eBay nostalgia was a goldmine when the first movie hit!)
Anyway, even I have a hard time telling who is who in these movies, even after they've been introduced once. The robot designs in these films is HORRIBLE and most have almost NOTHING to do with the original toys/comics/etc. It's like Bay wanted to make his own giant robot movie and just appropriated the Transformers names for recognition/marketing. For example, TF was never about turning things INTO robots with some magical spark (kitchen gadgets, vending machines, etc...) it was robots in DISGUISE as earth machines. Bay completely missed the point. |

I just hit the FF button through all the crappy parts (Roomate, Sam's Parents, Pretender). Once you eliminate those, it's a pretty decent film.

Wal-Mart is selling it for $15 or less because they know it will sell like hotcakes, even to people who didn't like the movie, at that price they will buy it. It will also encourage more Blu-ray adopters now and later into this holiday season.
Luckily, I am smart enough to not buy a film for a "great price" that I thought was horrible. |
Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - 10/20/09
Except Wal-Mart isn't officially selling it for that much as numerous wal-mart's are still selling it for the advertised 20 bucks.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - 10/20/09
I bought mine for $19.96 - $3 PJ coupon = $16.96. It's not 13 bucks but still a good price. I haven't opened mine yet but did anyone who got the Walmart Big Screen BR have this problem mentioned at the Digital Bits:
http://www.digitalbits.com/#mytwocents "And in other news today, it appears that there may be volume problems with the DTS-HD MA mix on the Wal-Mart-exclusive IMAX version of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on Blu-ray. We've gotten a number of complaints from readers about it. We don't have the disc ourselves, so we're looking into it and will update you when we know more. Be advised that the regular Blu-ray version available at other retailers is unaffected." |
Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - 10/20/09
^ Wonder what that's all about?
I haven't watched the entire thing yet, just a few key scenes. Sounded great to me, and the PQ is astounding. This is worth owning purely for the forest scene alone. |
Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - 10/20/09
^ I do recall a couple of people earlier in this thread mentioning that they had to turn the volume up a bit to hear the dialogue. I think just about everyone in this thread that has watched the BD has the Wal*Mart version.
At least this is some consolation for us Canadians, who don't have the Imax version available here and have to settle for the Future Shop steelbook and "regular" version. :P |
Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - 10/20/09
I had forgot..
Once the movie got to Sam & the girl I did have to turn up the volume. Walmart big screen Blu-R |
Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - 10/20/09
Both WalMarts I went to were out of stock. There's a third one I can go to but I doubt it'll be any different.

Great, an audio issue. Hopefully Paramount fixes this for us.

If there is an issue. I didn't have any issues having trouble not hearing the dialogue. Sounded like it was at a normal level. So it's possible the inclusion of the IMAX scenes could have done this? Weird.
If there is a problem, I wouldn't even notice. The SQ on this disc is probably one of the best I've heard. Right up there with the True HD versions of Underworld (JPN), TF and Batman Begins HD-DVDs. |
