Highly rated BD's you don't agree with

Please share any BD's where you don't agree with their reviews. I'd like to start with "Donnie Brasco". Great film for sure, that's not my beef. But I think the PQ is average at best. And almost every review I read for the BD had an 8/10 rating or higher. Quite frankly, it doesn't look much better than the SD.

Uh oh. With all the fan boys here, expect a fall out. I'm not one, but thought the PQ was pretty damn good. IMAX and otherwise.

Fanboys Shmanboys. I liked the movie, just thought the image was shit. Plus, the extras sucked. Yeah, some of the focus points were OK but nothing special.

I like neither, but I don't think TDK was quite as bad as you're putting it. I think Gangs of New York was shit, so TDK must be on par with that by your standards LicktheABCs?

I'm not a fanboy either, but alongside this movement that maintains the movie looked flawless, there is also a movement that seems intent on claiming the movie looked terrible. I'm going to inform both parties...

Spoiler:
You're eyes need to be checked.

The last time I checked this wasn't a contest to see which title was the absolute worst.. it was name the highly rated BD's you don't agree with.

I don't agree with the 5's TDK got.

Now, if GONY got 5's across the board then it would have a place in this discussion, but since it didn't... why not just give your choice of highly rated BD you don't agree with and leave it at that?

This is a discussion however, because it's a forum. I wholly disagree with what you've said, and i'm letting you know. Not that it matters, but I speak up when I want to, just as you have.

At the same time, this thread has nothing to do with best or worsts, to paraphrase what you've said, the fact that you said 'name the highly rated BD's you don't agree with' leaves me with the idea that you decided to go after a highly-rated, highly-disputed film...I still disagree with Gangs of New Yorks assertion that it's even a Blu-ray beyond the disc and the packaging. The BD didn't even warrant a review it was so pathetic, so there you have it.

I agree.

Same with Dog Soldiers, a film I watched recently, but I haven't found that many reviews for it and those that I did find give it pretty low marks.

I had a feeling that movie was like that, maybe I shouldn't assume those kind of things...but in this case it seems i've dodged a bullet.

I agree with ABC.

Dark Night definitely suffers from some nasty EE. The IMAX stuff looks fantastic, but the rest of the film definitely has some issues. It still looks good, but definitely not up to par with other films with top tier PQ.

Actually, there are some flaws in the IMAX material as well, though I'm not sure if it it source related or not.

Re: Highly rated BD's you don't agree with

I didn't care for the PQ of The Dark Knight on BD. When the promo clip tacked on to the BD of Batman Begins looks better than it does on the BD of The Dark Knight, you've already started on the wrong foot. EE was rampant and even managed to rear it's ugly head all over the great IMAX shot of Bruce reading for his jump from that Hong Kong skyscraper. It's not the worst transfer I've seen but it's the kind of average transfer I'd expect from an older release that was simply reusing an old high def master used for a previous DVD release. It's not what I'd expect from the BD transfer of a brand new movie. The audio, on the other hand, was top notch.

I never saw Gangs of New York on BD so I cannot compare.
