Where's the Amazon exclusives on Woodstock?

I thought it was a 3rd disc, but it's not. I'm hoping it's not through BD-Live. The second disc doesn't seem to be marked any differently, indicating a special version. Has anyone checked it out yet?

Re: Where's the Amazon exclusives on Woodstock?

I haven't received mine yet, but found this post on Amazon:

Jake Cremins says:
It took me a second to figure it out, but the Amazon-exclusive content is on the second disc; it's a different Disc 2 than the regular version. (The wording was just sort of unfortunate; "Amazon-exclusive bonus disc" makes it sound like there should be a third disc somewhere, not that it's just an Amazon-exclusive *version* of the bonus disc.) If you look at the liner, the extra musical performances are the three listed under "Exclusive Edition," and the featurettes are the ones listed under "3 Featurettes Exclusive to this Disc."

Any reviews of the Amazon exclusive content? I'm debating if it's worth the extra dough.

Highdefdigest said that they'd update their review once they receive it from Amazon.

Note that Target also has (different I imagine) exclusive performances on their 2nd disc.

Re: Where's the Amazon exclusives on Woodstock?

Does anyone have a comparison of the exclusive Target vs Amazon features?

I hate when there multiple versions of a release with different exclusive content! I don't mind seeking out a single exclusive so I have the most features/content possible, but I prefer not to buy the same release multiple times, so I am almost forced to just decide on a version.

I wish I would've know about these exclusives before buying it at BB.

I believe the Amazon exclusive was mentioned in a previous thread about this release, that's how I found out about it. I didn't know about the Target version until today though. Hopefully someone can post the contents, I don't see anything on the Target website about their version.

If you didn't open your BB copy you could just return it and get one of the exslusives.

Is a tamborine anything like a tambourine? If so, it better be green.

From Amazon's website:
Also included in the set is an additional 20 minutes of Amazon exclusive content with never-before-seen performance footage in hi-def from Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, and Country Joe and the Fish plus three bonus featurettes!
From the sticker on the Target version:
EXCLUSIVE CONTENT:
Performance Footage never before seen by Jimi Hendrix, The Who, and Canned Heat. Plus, four additional featurettes.
I went with the Target version since I like all three of those acts, and was never that interested in the Dead or Country Joe.

Are the Target extra features in high def?

Re: Where's the Amazon exclusives on Woodstock?

There are 18 "never before seen" tracks on the Bonus Disc, plus the three exclusives. They all appear under the heading "Untold Stories." All are 16mm transfers in their OAR (4:3). Not hi-def, but decent enough, considering the unrestored source materials.

Re: Where's the Amazon exclusives on Woodstock?

It sounds like the target version is the better one, based on the musical performances that are included as retailer exclusive.

Re: Where's the Amazon exclusives on Woodstock?

Here is the info about the Target bonus content:

There are 3 additional performances under "WOODSTOCK: UNTOLD STORIES":

Canned Heat: Woodstock Boogie
The Who: Sparks
Jimi Hendrix: Spanish Castle Magic

All performances are pillarboxed 4:3 within a 1080p encode.

There are 4 additional featurettes under "WOODSTOCK: FROM FESTIVAL TO FEATURE":

Reflections of an Era - Director Michael Wadleigh on 2 signature 1969 events: Woodstock and the Moon Landing

A Farm In Bethel - Reflections on Landholder Max Yasgur's Legacy

Cinematic Revolution - The Origins of the Film's 3-Panel Look

Woodstock Generation - Sons and Daughters of the 1960s Share Their Memories

All 4 featurettes are full 1080p.

While the actual film information is indeed 4:3, the performances are, in fact, encoded in 1080p on the disc.

Re: Where's the Amazon exclusives on Woodstock?

All of the different editions of this set boggle the mind! Why didn't WB just include the six extra tracks and make it 24 unreleased performances on disc 2? And why didn't they include all of the featurettes on disc 2 as well. These various exclusive sets are insulting to the real fans of the movie.

All your questions can be answered by one word:

MARKETING!!

Amazon and Target believe they will get more sales of this title by offering content not available in other versions. And Warner apparently believes offering multiple versions will increase overall sales. That trumps the needs of the fans by a long shot (at least in their minds).
