Great artwork for Midnight Cowboy but not sure if I'll buy it (kind of surprised by how many people on other forums are bitching about the artwork, preferring that they kept the original poster art...I usually prefer it when Criterion mixes it up and does something a little different and "artistic"). I'm kind of watching my budget these days and I'm still okay with the Special Edition DVD I bought several years back...Just not the type of movie I rewatch that often...
Really happy about Mishima as it's definitely one of my favorite Schrader movies...Best part about it in my mind is the score that kicks of the movie...Bought the Criterion DVD years ago and usually end up watching it once a year and cranking the volume...Showed it to some friends years ago who initially thought they'd hate it but they really liked it by the end...They didn't like Mishima's movie, Patriotism, when I showed that to them...I really wish Criterion would release some more Schrader movies, like Affliction and Light Sleeper...Hell, I wish Criterion (or anyone for that matter) would start releasing more Abel Ferrara movies on Blu-Ray...The Funeral is a personal favourite...but I also like 'R X-Mas...and there's several movies of his I've still never seen like Fear City, etc...

Two from Cristian Mungiu
I hope they do 4 Months, 3 Weeks & 2 Days.
Yes, I can finally upgrade Au Hasard Balthazar!
Still waiting for The Human Condition and the other 2 Teshigahara films from the box set (Pitfall & The Face of Another).

Speaking of which, The Addiction would be perfect for Criterion.
I'd also like for Criterion to release some Bruno Dumont and of course more Michael Haneke.

I would definitely get those if Criterion released them.
Love the films of Abel Ferrara, I'm one of the few here who sticks up for New Rose Hotel.

If you're a big Ferrara fan, I assume you've read the Brad Stevens book about Ferrara...That's one of my favourite filmmaker books and it really made me appreciate Ferrara a lot more after reading it...I remember finding it in the library section of the University I went to and instead of studying for some Psychology 200 level class I had I ended up reading that book for hours...It's fantastic...
I'd also say that one of his more recent movies, Welcome to New York was really great...Not a huge Depardieu fan but I thought he was great as the scumbag Dominque Strasse...

I noticed Scanners was listed in the coming soon page. Is there something new about this release, seeing as how it came out about 3-4 years ago.

Why don't they do this from the get go? Maybe too much stock and that's how they unload it? By separating discs?

Not sure what you mean? That title was released during the dual format era which they are no longer doing anymore. Once those editions are gone, they’ll make seperate editions.

I mean why not just release them separately to begin with? Why dual editions, then re-release them as DVD and blu ray separately?

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
The dual edition was released 3 years ago when they were experimenting with releasing this way. It was more cost effective for them and they were pushing Blu. People complained and they went back to seperate editions. Dual copies are still in circulation and once they sell out they do seperate editions.

Hoping somebody puts out decent release of The Osterman Weekend.
I'd be happy if Criterion released some titles they've put out on DVD. The Naked Prey, Fiend Without A Face, and the two Karloff titles Corridors of Blood and The Haunted Strangler.

Nobody is working on it because the person who owns the rights wants an astronomical amount to license it to recoup funds sunk in to the stupid 3D conversion.

And when the blu of Dawn first came out, I was all "eh, I have the dvd, so I'll just wait 'till the blu is cheap", and before I knew it, it was oop and going for $200.

A while back Richard Rubenstein did a 3D conversion of the movie. From what I understand, he sunk a lot of money into it, nobody gave a shit and he couldn't get it released, so now he's asking for a shit-ton of money for the rights to recoup his losses.

Oh wow. Had no idea. I know there was some version of Night in 3D but I think that was a remade version with Sid Haig, I think...
Dawn (78) will always be one of favorites of all time. And #1 horror for me...
