Yes, it's old news - they had a cover-choosing contest last month. Not sure which one won though.

Deep Rising/The Puppet Masters - 10/9/12

http://www.millcreekent.com/products...e-feature.html

One completely guilty pleasure, one totally awesome Body Snatchers rip-off. All over this.

Body Snatchers actually ripped off Puppet Masters. Heard that Puppet Masters was written before Body Snatchers. Don't know if thats true or not.

Agree that both movies are good.

You're right. BS was written in '54, PM in '51.

I loved Puppet Masters. The ONLY ding is at the end when Sutherland puts the helicopteron automatic pilot. Ugh.

That's all that needed to be said. Don't worry, I made it vague on purpose. Still worth owning.

Haven't seen it in this thread yet but The Duellists is coming to Blu later this year. Very happy about that one. I'm guessing it will coincide with the Prometheus release.

Any news on Winchester 73 on blu-ray? No updates since those rumors...

In June another dvd release came out (in the series Universal's 100th Anniversary)...could that mean that a blu-ray release in the immediate future is unlikely?

I have a huge problem with this splitting of TV seasons. I'll be holding off hoping for a full S7 set...

They're usually 13-episode seasons.
They did the two separate half-seasons for season 6. THEN came the full S6 box (which I thankfully waited for). I don't mind waiting...I just hope they actually DO a full S7 set.
This crap of studios releasing two half-season sets, then maybe (or maybe not - it's a gamble) following with a full season set reeks of greed and lack of respect for the consumers IMHO.

Stores like stocking sets with a lower retail price.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV

20th Century Fox Entertainment has revealed that it is preparing for release two box sets with films by acclaimed director Elia Kazan. The studio has not yet officially announced and detailed these upcoming releases, but has provided early cover works for them.

Kazan at Fox Volume One has listed Boomerang! (1947), Gentleman's Agreement (1947), Pinky (1949), and Panic in the Streets (1950).

Kazan at Fox Volume Two has listed A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1949), Man on a Tightrope (1953), Viva Zapata! (1952), and Wild River (1960).
amazing news!

The fact that this release still doesn't have The Whole Bloody Affair makes me want to break things.
