A very harold and Kumar Christmas is coming out 2/7. http://www.digitalbits.com/#mytwocents Kind of surprising, I thought it would have been held until next Christmas for release.

Who's releasing those? I hope they're not PD-level discs like The Terror and Dementia 13. |

May be worth noting that Zaat is also known as Blood Waters of Dr. Z of MST3K infamy.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
I've read the opposite. I read that The Stranger was the weak one and Kansas City Confidential, The Terror, and Dementia 13 were, while not 5-star great, decent for the price and better-looking than their PD DVD counterparts. (Slightly off topic, but has there ever been a decent release of The Terror?)

DVD Beaver seem to have problematic screencaps at times, so I don't use them as gospel, but they can be useful for assessing the relative merits of releases. For this film, the BD does appear better than the PD DVDs, but still seems very smeary and lacking in detail, not very filmlike at all. The MGM DVD, despite the lower resolution, looks more pleasing overall. Again, grain of salt and of course your personal preferences may vary. Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
Fantastic news about this classic film. Now Paramount, while we're on the subject of Polanski, can you do something for Rosemary's Baby as well? Thanks!

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
I didn't see that one coming, especially a deluxe edition. I'd rather see more deserving catalog titles like Leave Her to Heaven or Laura get the five-star treatment from Fox, but perhaps those are in the pipeline.
|
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
That's certainly an odd choice coming from Fox. It's nice to see a major studio putting out a lessor known title, but, like noirfan, I can think of a few other Fox movies I'd rather see on BD than Wizards.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
I'm guessing it's 10/2 since 10/1 is a Monday. I never bought the Dark Sky disc either (though it's still easily found), and since I love the film so much I'll likely buy whatever WB puts out.

A personal favorite, coming to Blu-ray in France on 3/1:
It's Alive! Seven7's release of Killing Zoe had removable French subs, hopefully that will be the case here as well. |
