I will rent Rudo & Cursi before determining whether or not a purchase is worth it, I will wait on reviews to see if Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead are good upgrades over the HD DVD's, and I will definitely purchase Grindhouse even though I already own the extended director's cuts on Blu-ray and those were upgrades over the DVD's. I wonder if the new release will be just the theatrical version or if it will include both versions? I'm kinda pissed off about it, really, but I love the film so I won't complain too much.

I never picked up the Death Proof/Planet Terror blu-rays (had the dvd versions) and am pretty psyched that the full GRINDHOUSE experiences is finally coming to blu-ray. Day 1 purchase.

Not sure why Grindhouse is listed because Weinstein has no plans to bring it out on Blu-ray right now. They may have sold off the rights to another studio or its an old listing (DVD coming out, Blu planned, but Blu now dropped). I asked my rep but never got a response.

RUMORED 2009 TITLES DELAYED UNTIL 2010, Per the Digital Bits:

The following titles have been moved into 2010 (or later, or were already tentatively set for 2010)...

"To Live and Die in L.A. (MGM - Feb), Alien Quadrilogy, more Rogers & Hammerstein musicals (Fox - 2010), The Indiana Jones Trilogy, Chinatown, Flashdance (Paramount - TBA 2010), Ben-Hur, King Kong, Goonies (Warner Bros. - TBD - note that Goonies sees its 25th anniversary in 2010), Toy Story 1 & 2, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., Fantasia, Fantasia 2000, Destino, Beauty and the Beast (Disney - TBA 2010), Back to the Future Trilogy (Universal - strongly rumored, as 2010 marks the original film's 25th anniversary)"

Wonderful. Fucking wonderful. Disney - way to step up your game.

Shame on the other studios as well, but a bulk of those are Disney. The same studio who promised Monsters Inc in May.

I wonder if Criterion will end up releasing more titles than Disney this year?

You gotta love Disney's policy: release less titles, raise prices.

I made that joke months ago, and you know what, they actually just might. Just love the support Disney shows the format.

Wow, just...wow, I don't have any other words for this....I guess I can kind of understand Nemo (even though they said it would be coming out this year back in January at CES), but no Monsters?? After delaying it from May, now it won't be released along side Up for this holiday season? WHY?? The disc is done and already released in Japan! You can't spread out the release of your favorites too far apart!

I can't imagine Toy Story 1, Toy Story 2, & Toy Story 3, Monsters Inc AND Finding Nemo all come out next year. I just don't see that happening. That would be like getting a major Pixar release every other month.

Disney can barley stick to 3 releases a month as-is. Makes you wonder what goes on behind the scenes with so many delays/cancellations.

Anybody have an emoticon with a giant straw, doing a line down the hallway?

I guess we can expect the Fantasias in March, since the first one is a Platinum (now Diamond?).

How much do you want to bet that King Kong will only be available in an expensive big box? It will probably have the stuff that was in that tin.

I'm glad you are excited. I'm kind of bummed, very few titles being announced are purchases for me. All rentals if that.

I would be in for these three on release date except its Miramax and they are bound to be region locked. I hate region coding on Blu!

Hero (Ying xiong) (2002) Special Edition
Iron Monkey
The Legend of Drunken Master

If Grindhouse is only coming out DVD only, I'm going to be pissed.

But maybe Alliance will release it in Canada?

I think at this point based on their current stupid strategy, that is basically a given....
Aren't you excited to spend three times more than necessary for a giant cardboard box and a reproduction copy of the film budget? WOW!

Same for me, but I have my doubts that it will actually street.
