Definitely looking forward to Season 2 of ST:TOS...hopefully that means the final season will be out in December!
I'll also be grabbing the "Next Generation" four film set and the new ST movie, as well as Forrest Gump (hopefully with all bonus features carried over).... |
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
I'm in for the ST:TNG movies, the new one, and Wonderful Life.

We need Gladiator Theatrical Edition. I hate how these studios are releasing special or extended editions on Blu-ray and not theatrical versions. I want Donnie Brasco theatrical, I watched The New World Extended Cut and I really want the theatrical on Blu-ray. Boo on Gladiator.
I'm looking forward to Forrest Gump and It's a Wonderful Life. |

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
I read somewhere else the possible dates for Star Trek TOS Season 3 (or did I read it here somewhere) and the rest of the Star Trek films was end of October-ish.

Here's some other possible dates via The Digital Bits:
September 15: 'Deep Impact', 'Escape from L.A.', '48 Hours' September 22: 'Star Trek: The Original Series - Season 2', 'Gladiator: Extended Edition', 'Galaxy Quest' November 3: 'Forrest Gump', 'It's a Wonderful Life' I wonder if 9/22 is when we'll also see the other Star Trek movies and the new one. |

It's A Wonderful Life? Wow. My day just got made. And it's only 1:55 AM.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
From the Rumor Mill that mentioned the Paramount dates, The Digital Bits also said the Trek films from the current box set will be available separately when the new film and Next Generation set arrives.
I think I may wait and pick up some of those when they are available. I don't want all of the films in the current set. And, even though I don't care too much about cover art, I would rather have the theatrical cover artwork instead of what they used in the set. The white background with a crew member's huge face is kinda blah. |

Hopefully Paramount is able to put the director's cuts of I & II on the individual releases.
You won't see the "director's cut" releases until they re-release them a couple years from now....they still have to re-render all the new effects in ST:TMP into HD first.... |

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
Def. in for EFLA and 48 Hours, pass on the rest.
K-19? Varsity Blues? Really? WTF, Paramount? Where's Once Upon a Time in the West? Bastards.. |
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
Wow where's the love for Deep Impact? It was the thinking man's Armageddon of 1998.
Regarding OUATITW, I saw this recently on HDnet and it did not look that great. Maybe they're using the transfer which sourced the SCE DVD for the broadcast, but I would think this would need some work for it to shine on BD. |

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
Damn, those Paramount catalogue titles suck hard. Maybe The Firm if I can find it for under $10, but zero interest in the others.

Hell Duvall and Freeman are enough to make the whole cast of Armageddon look like amateurs. BTW, I'm not trying to say Deep Impact is a sci-fi classic or even a great film. But using absurd to describe Deep Impact in defense of a movie like Armageddon....well that's a little absurd. And PS, I would buy Armageddon on Blu. :) |

Probably around what they'll be when they come over here. They're region-free as well. You can bet your bottom dollar that the Next Generation films will also be available separately when released so you can save yourself from the drudgery of Insurrection and Nemesis. heh. Never will I ever own Star Trek V again on any medium. :) |
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
Either way I'll be picking up Deep Impact and eventually Armeggedon on BD when they are out.
|
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
As for Armageddon and Deep Impact, both movies are dumb. One of them knows it and is hella fun and the other has Frodo.
|
Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
That's not how it felt in 1998, but to each their own.

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part IV
Wallace and Gromit: The Complete Collection is up for pre-order at Amazon (no street date though) and I wonder if its really "complete" - with the most recent short: 'A Matter of Loaf and Death'

I never picked up the Death Proof/Planet Terror blu-rays (had the dvd versions) and am pretty psyched that the full GRINDHOUSE experiences is finally coming to blu-ray. Day 1 purchase.
