Now going for $7.88 on Amazon. Weird price history, one of the most anticipated Blu-rays, and they're selling this at such a low price? Not complaining, just a thought. I'm waiting for the 4K.

Already have it pre-ordered on Amazon.
That's great that it's down that low.

Ok, good. That is a ridiculous price!

A Q&A with Michael Mann from the Toronto International Film Festival and an Academy Panel with Mann, Pacino and De Niro (and moderated by Christopher Nolan) are the only two new extras, aside from the new transfer.
Reports are that the framing is off, heavy DNR has been used (to minimize the grain), and the color timing has been changed (most of you already know about this last one). Still, it's hard not to bite at this price - but why do so many directors tinker with their movies? Once I'd like to see someone restore a movie and say "I'm not happy with the way it looks/is framed, but we did our best to make it match the original theatrical presentation."

Something that I noticed last night, that I figured was worth mentioning is the fact that the upcoming Blu-ray release listed at Amazon for $7.88 shows what appears to be a bilingual cover (Canadian release?).

It's just a place holder from the Canadian Amazon. The final US release won't have it.

Wow it was amazing getting to watch Heat on the big screen tonight thanks to the Alamo Drafthouse, the 4k restoration looked good. Did anyone else get to go? I haven't watch it the whole way through in years. I always liked the original look of the film, but at such a cheap price I might go ahead and get the new bluray next week.

^ I just did a quick search. Not available at any BB within 250 miles. Not available at any Target in my area. Not available at any Walmart in my area, but they'll do free pick-up if you order online (they'll ship it to the store). WM and Amazon are the same price, so
I'm not going to bother ordering it though. Like a handful of others, I already have the previous release, and I have no desire to double-dip unless it's a UHD BD.

Here's a review for it. Overall, an improvement. But since the bar was low with the last release, they could only go up. One aspect I don't like is that they didn't improve the sound from the last release. That alone makes me wonder if they'll ever have a 4K release for this. While the picture is improved, the sound is standard 5.1 DTS-HD. To date, I don't think we've had that on UHD 7.1 DTS-HD, but that's it. That said, I went ahead and picked it up for $7.88 on Amazon. In the mail today, which is good since it sounds like it's scare at the B&M's.
