If the extras are on the BD for Child's Play, I'll buy it. Pass if not. Sounds like they should be, so far.

HD Digest says both Misery and Child's Play will come with a dvd of the movie. Sounds like the BD's may be barebones after all.

Re: Misery and Child's Play: 9/15/09

It appears Misery is a barebones BD with a 'bonus' DVD with all the special features. Childs Play appears to be a BD with special features + bonus' DVD with all the special features (according to a AVS poster).

Beaver confirms no special features on the BD.

I'm not surprised...

Just a heads up here, one of my local Best Buy's had ONE copy of Child's Play today, the other had received none.

Mine had about 5 copies of Child's play, 3 Misery and 3 Lecter sets. I was actually pretty surprised.

I got my copy at BB but I did it for instore pickup so I don't know how many they had.

Fry's had jack shit in the way of catalog titles this morning. No CP or Misery, and no Deep Impact, AWIL and Army of Darkness for that matter. Never got last week's WB's either. So lame.

Just got done watching "Misery" on BD via Netflix. And the glowing PQ reviews I've seen so far are spot on. The image is spectacular. Especially for a film almost 20 years old. Take note Warner Brothers. THIS is how you do older movies on BD.

My wink face was there because I believe the DVDBeaver article referred to him as Ron.

Well, except for the part where the disc doesn't have the features on it.

I suppose my resistance to this practice is coming down, since I'm considering buying several of the MGM titles I know are like this (and I do like having a copy of the SD-DVD rather than a worthless Digital Copy disc), but it's still a bit of a pain. At the very least, they could include the audio commentaries.

Gizmo 10-05-09 10:39 AM

Re: Misery and Child's Play: 9/15/09

The reason why is because the disc was 'ready' when MGM didn't get a hoot about Special Features on a Blu-ray. The cost to go back, re-do a menu etc. would be to high. At this point, I just come to accept it and would rather pay $15 for a BD + DVD Special Features disc vs $30 and no Special Features.

No audio commentaries = wait for bargain bin pricing on these.

For clarification: you do get the audio commentaries on the SD-DVDs, and of the two titles the thread concerns, this only relates to Misery (all the features are on Child's Play). Wouldn't want to inadvertently misinform you.

I wish these would drop to $15 or less on Amazon. Then I'd buy them in time for Halloween... but at $16 I'm going to pass. Because a dollar makes the difference to me. Weird, but true...

Child's Play is $5.00 on Walmart.com, with free Site to Store or FedExOffice pickup. Shipping is $1.97 otherwise. It's a pretty silly film, but I figured it was worth $5.31, especially as there look to be some decent extras, and what with the upcoming Horror Challenge.

Wow, you brought up a 2 year old thread to post something that belongs in the bargain forum (and I believe it is there)?
