Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
Sure, this is undoubtedly in the announcement thread, but it deserves its own thread.
http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=2667 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...1119/btilc.jpg DVDTown has the extras and the BD cover: · Commentary by Director John Carpenter and Actor Kurt Russell · 9 Deleted Scenes · Extended Ending · Vintage Featurette · Music Video · Richard Edlund interview · Trailer A & B · 6 TV Spots · Behind the Scenes Gallery · BD + · BD Live Ready Bootstrap Can't go wrong with more John Carpenter on BD (especially with Kurt Russell). Can't wait, because my years-old 2-disc DVD is pretty beat up at this point. |
Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
Hmmm . . . not crazy about that cover art -- what's wrong with keeping the original Struzan poster? -- but, hot crackers!! I will be all over this release.

Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
Awesome - now I don't have to shell out for the import.

"BD Live Ready Bootstrap"
What is that? |
Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
Saw this earlier as well. The cover art is not that great, but I suppose it's campy and fits in with the tone of the film somewhat. I can't recall if all the extras from the original 2-disc DVD are included in this release. I still have my DVD set, in the super thick grey casing (was the second/third DVD I ever bought!)

Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
The cover isn't as horrible as I was expecting -- but oh yes - this will be mine on street day

Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
SE Special features were --
8 Deleted/Alternative scenes ("Lava Sequence" is with "multi-angle function") Extended Ending "Original 1986 promotional" featurette "Multi angle" interview with special effects designer Richard Edlund Music video ("Big Trouble in Little China" by The Coupe DeVilles) 3 Theatrical Trailers (2 US, and Spanish) Teaser Trailer 5 TV Spots Magazine articles (varying from "American Cinematographer" to "Cinefex") Production Notes Cast and Crew: Filmographies and Biographies Photo Gallery Looks pretty close to me. Looks like a buy. |
Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
Cover isnt too bad. Definitely buying on day 1. Any carpenter film on BD is welcome as long as its not worse than the DVD.
|
Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
One of my favorite films. This will be in my collection on release day.
|
Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
Quite possibly the best release announcement ever.

Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
I'm not crazy about the cover art but this is a first day purchase.

What is that? But we all know that BDLive is pointless. I'll be keeping the 2 disc DVD for a long while yet - or until this title hits the $10 mark. Sure - its an OK film and the Blu format will only bring out a little more 'colour' but its not enough for me to double dip and give FOX more money at this stage. |
Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
Oh yeah! This will be mine.
|
Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
Cover is rather descent but I hope for a last minute change to the old Struzan onesheet. Regardless, this will be mine. :D

Can't wait!

Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
"Starman" hits BD on August 11th too!

Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
Looking forward to retire my dvd copy for a blu-ray copy. Great news.

Time to sell my 2-disk DVD I guess.

Great news!!! This is one that I actually never got on SD, so now's the perfect time to add to the collection!
|
Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
Cover art... meh. Still, seeing as how Carpenter is my favorite director and this is one of my favorite films... a Day 1 purchase from me is guaranteed.
Extras don't matter much to me because my old 2-disc SE is signed by the man himself, John Carpenter, so it's not going anywhere. Anyone know if this edition retains the original DTS track? |
Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
Never got the 2-disc, so I'll eventually pick this up for the extras.
|
Re: Big Trouble in Little China >>> 8/4/09
All I know is, this Lo Pan character comes out of thin air in the middle of a goddamn alley while his buddies are flying around on wires cutting everybody to shreds, and he just stands there waiting for me to drive my truck straight through him with *light* coming out of his mouth!
Time to fire up the Pork Chop Express and buy this! |
