Cast Away blu-ray help - 'suicide scene'

Hello guys.

I got the cast away blu-ray...and wife and i were watching. I could have sworn there was a scene where he goes to attempt suicide and then tests the rope...

What we saw, was the part where he gets in a fight with wilson...and climbs up the mountain after. and it;s implied that he tested the rope, but it never showed it.

Am I remembering wrong, or is something wrong with this copy and i'm missing a scene or its skipping it?

let me know.

Regards

Sanjay

You're remembering it wrong. I've seen this film numerous times including twice in the theater. You never see the test.

Yep, this is the DVD forum, not the HD forum.

There were no deleted scenes. And yes, the thing with the rope was never explained.

IF they would have had some deleted scenes I'm pretty sure it would have.

It's explained, but never shown.

Nope, they show him pulling up the log that resembled a human, and then talking to himself/Wilson about how he always had to test something before doing it, including commiting suicide.

Actually he tells Wilson that they are short on the rope that they need for the raft. He then "argues" with Wilson that he knows where he can get more rope.

He talks about wanting to commit suicide but having to test the rope first when he got back to Memphis. He tells his friend about it after he goes to see Kelly.

StarFyre, you are remembering correctly. I had a rip of one of the original "screeners" for a while, and it has a TON of scenes that didn't make it into the final version - which I always felt was a ripoff because it really helped enhance the mood of the film, and was only about an extra half hour.

The particular scene is exactly as you describe, it even shows him creating the dummy because he's so depressed, he drags it up the mountain and tosses it over the edge to test the rope. It breaks the tree's branch, but not enough that the dummy falls (but he would have "Landed on the rocks and broken his legs, or neck" - and now he's even more depressed - I seem to recall he says something about how he can't even kill himself correctly. That's when he decides it's time to get the hell off that rock!

I also remembered that and prior to reading the last entry here describing the rope breaking I remembered that this is what happened so I'm not sure how I could have done that without having seen it.

Keep in mind that the DVD was a 2-disc set and none of the extras carried over to the blu-ray. It's possible the scene was shone in a documentary or something if not the film proper.

I'll have to watch through the extras again now to see.

He also sees Sloan change her clothes to go swimming.
