I wish the other studios would offer something like this.

Just a reminder, Warner has a similar offer to upgrade standard definition DVD's to Blu-ray with their DVD2Blu program.

Maybe the other studios don't feel guilty for ending the format.

Not nearly as good. I still have all of my actual HD DVD's that I traded in

Ahhh...I see that, now. I'd assumed (without reading carefully) that it was the same process as the HD DVD's where all you'd have to do is mail-in the original sleeves, but it clearly states they want the discs.

I guess the requirement is different since it's not a dead format.

I'm yempted to go with a couple for those prices however I still have 3 players. So really I'm just protecting myself against something happening to the disc. I may be a last minute entry.

I (obviously) waited to the last moment to take advantage of this deal, and I'm curious...Did WB pull the Harry Potter box set from their program?
I only see the individual releases.
Thanks for the info!

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program

I thought the deal ended 12/31/09? It looks like it doesnt?

Annoyingly though they've not added any new titles to the program.

My order just shipped on Tuesday, cutting it very close, but glad I could finally get in on the Red2Blu.

you have 3 weeks from 12/31/09 or 1/21/10 for them to receive the cover art. I just placed a last order a few days ago.

Got my Blu discs today. About a 3 week turnaround time from the time I finally sent the covers. Not too shabby.

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program

BTW - Even though they're past their advertised 12-31-09 deadline, the program is apparently still running. The order I submitted last night was confirmed, they sent me a prepaid shipping label, and I recieved a 2nd confirmation email this morning. This may be YMMV, and I suppose there's a chance that the program is dead and I'm only getting emails from a script, but my reading of the Program Rules indicates that if they send you a label, you've got 3 weeks to send them the covers.

I guess I'm the Guinea Pig - I'll let y'all know what happens. Best case, the deal is still good. Worst case, I just lost a dozen HD covers (all of which I scanned and can reprint if necessary).

My order:

Ocean's Eleven (2001), Twelve & Thirteen Giftset (BD) $9.95
Planet Earth: The Complete Series (BD) $14.95
Fountain, The (BD) $4.95
Clockwork Orange, A (BD) $4.95
Adventures of Robin Hood, The (BD) $4.95
Dirty Dozen, The (BD) $4.95
Full Metal Jacket (BD) $4.95
Goodfellas (BD) $4.95
Battle of the Bulge (BD) $4.95
V for Vendetta (BD) $4.95
2001: A Space Odyssey (BD) $4.95
Constantine (BD) $4.95
Scanner Darkly, A (BD) $4.95
Subtotal $79.35
Tax $5.55
Shipping $6.95
Total $91.85

I was going to include Pan's Labyrinth as well, but when I went to collect the HD cover from my collection I realized mine was from the UK, so I pulled it from the order. The other eligible HD's I own that I may consider for Round 2 are:

$40.29 That's Entertainment Trilogy... (HD-DVD)
$31.91 Matrix: Ultimate Collection (HD-DVD)
$12.98 Cowboys, The (HD-DVD)
$12.94 Firewall (HD-DVD)
$12.91 300 (HD-DVD)
$12.37 Rio Bravo (HD-DVD)
$12.04 We Are Marshall (HD-DVD)
$11.91 Troy Director's Cut (HD-DVD)
$8.54 Galapagos (BBC) (HD-DVD)
$7.04 Road Warrior, The (HD-DVD)
$6.91 Blade Runner: Complete... (HD-DVD)
$5.44 Deliverance (HD-DVD)
$5.44 Purple Rain (HD-DVD)
$5.04 Blazing Saddles (HD-DVD)
$4.91 Batman Begins (HD-DVD)
$4.91 Swordfish (HD-DVD)
$4.91 Wild Bunch, The (HD-DVD)
$3.37 Bullitt (HD-DVD)
$3.04 Perfect Storm, The (HD-DVD)
$2.91 Corpse Bride (HD-DVD)
$0.55 Blue Planet (HD-DVD)

The prices shown above are the differences between the Red2Blu upgrade price and what I would pay if I had to purchase a BR outright, based on the least expensive retailer as shown at DVDPS. They're ranked from best bargain to worst - all I need to do is decide whether it's worth the hassle, because several of the HD titles I own are only in my collection because they were dirt cheap as sites dumped their inventory over the last 1-2 years.

Not sure if it'll still work, but I used the UK version of Planet Earth box set (even had an extra disc) and they accepted it. You might want to try your Pans Labyrinth.

Thanks for the info. If Order 1 goes through without a hiccup and the program seems like it's still crankin', I may add Pan to Order 2.

Nice! If only some of the other studios would do this.

I only have 1 title to upgrade, the Matrix trilogy, and I just can't stomach paying the $7 shipping for just 1 title.

Are they enforcing the 25 per household? I already did the maximum.

From RED2BLU PROGRAM TERMS:

5. Limit: You may only order, collectively, up to a total of twenty-five (25)
Participating Titles and/or Participating Collections combined per household.

Whether they are enforcing it I couldn't say.

The Terms and Conditions also say that the program expires on June 30, 2010; HD DVD sleeves must be received by July 21, 2010. This may be why they have a free shipping promotion for the next few days, sort of a last "teaser" for the program.

This may be your last chance to participate in red 2 blu.
