Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program

I'm trying to decide if it's worth the 6 bucks to exchange 300 & Clockwork Orange.

When is the double-dip of 300 coming out? Is that confirmed and is there something special about it (new cut, extras, etc.)? And do you guys think it is worth it to have all the features on Clockwork on one disc or should it even matter?

I am just trying to finalize my list before any other changes are made to the program and these are the two I can't make up my mind on.

Do you do this with your new clothes? I can just see a drawer (or two) in your bedroom entirely filled with different clothing tags and stickers.

With all these DVDs, who can afford clothes? I work from home and time sprints to the mailbox carefully.

I found a standalone copy of Matrix Revolutions. Does anyone know if that upc will work for the exchange program?

Nah. I already have 6 I am for certain exchanging...so the shipping averages out to be about a buck a disc.

And I was saying 6 bucks each.

6x9 is just about the perfect size for the covers. That's what I used to send in 6 covers.

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program

I think even for the ones I wasn't planning on getting, I could go ahead and get them to use as somewhat decent trading or gifting material. Pretty decent offer IMO.

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program

You guys may want to check the going rates on some of your HD DVDs before signing away their covers. For example, I see that "The Aviator" HD DVD is currently being sold for the low low price of $43 over at Amazon. And a quick search for the same over at eBay came up with no current listings. Then again, for something like the "Lethal Weapon" films, the HD DVDs are currently going for about $2-3 (plus shipping, of course).

At the same time, many of the Blu-ray versions of these WB titles can be had for super-low prices, too. Like "The Aviator"? Current low price at Amazon is, like, $6.50. And the BD version of "Blade Runner" can generally be found for around $15.

All that's to say, with some titles you might actually be a lot better off just selling them outright, then replacing with BD on your own . . .

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program

Was I dreaming when I saw Planet Earth for $9.95? Now it's not there at all.

Also, I recall Blade Runner being $9.95, now it's $14.95. Am I dreaming this, or are there continuous adjustments being made?

Actually, I think Blade Runner was $14.95 from the beginning, but other titles have gone up (well, at least one: The Ultimate Matrix Collection).

I think Stardust is one that's still exclusive to HD DVD.

Sheesh, so much for the customer service people who told me to send in the covers as well. Oh well, the only one I was going to keep for viewing was Ocean's Thirteen for the DVD side...

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program

So as far as sending in the covers I got a 9x12 in envelope (couldn't find an 8.5x11) and I just tape the shipping label on there. What do I do with the part that is labeled "ONLINE e-LABEL RECORD"? It also says MERCHANDISE RETURN MAILING ACKNOWLEDGMENT on it.

Keep it. That's if you want to take the package to the actual post office and get an official 'the post office sent this' record. Not exactly sure what good it would do though.

Let us know if they give you any problems for using an envelope that violates their rules. I can't imagine they would, but it would be nice to know for sure.

That's great, I didn't know that was a "rule" with the post office. Damnit! I guess I'll have to find an 8.5x11 in envelope then!

Is anyone using tracking or signature confirmation in the mailing of these? I'd sure hate to see it lost in the mail with all my covers and such.

Re: Warner launches "Red2Blu" trade-in program

I am holding off participating in this as I am waiting to see what those you sent got back.

If any of you are doing this for gifting/reselling purposes, don't be surprised if what you get back differs from the retail versions (e.g. lacking UPC and such).
