Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
I signed up for the new WB Blu-ray promotion and the (currently small) list of eligible titles with cover art showed Watchmen: Tales from the Black Freighter, but the date was listed at 7/28/09 (and we all know it's already out), so it's obviously just being used as a placeholder. Since that info is coming directly from WB's website, I'd say it's a safe bet that's when we can expect the film to hit.

Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
Seem to be the right time frame. 300 was a March film in theaters and came out on BD in late July from WB IIRC.
I'm looking forward to it. |
Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
Would make a nice birthday present for me ... I wonder if I can hold out for the Ultimate Edition that is supposed to be out in the Fall ...

Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
Snyder said they hope to show the extended cut in some theatres in July so maybe August will see the release of the extended cut...? I cant wait to see it again on BD.

Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
Great news! Just a few days before my Birthday!
|
Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
I have a feeling if this date is correct it will only be the theatrical version. If so I'll probably wait until they release the extended cut.
|
Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
Definitely waiting for some sorta extended cut or at least a bundle of theatrical, tales, and motion comic.

Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
Like Valeyard and Yavin, this would be a very nice birthday present for me if true...

Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
Yeah, I'm not so sure Warner is going to be willing to put any more money into this (unless it was built into the contract with Snyder or something).

Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
I think it will go as planned. Don't many/most Hollywood movies these days plan/make more profit in the home release than in the theatrical?
|
Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
I believe they're referring to a theatrical release for a director's cut. The extended cuts will definitely hit home video.

Yikes! That's the best they could do?
I'm still buying it, though. |
Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
Wow, I usually don't bash cover art but that is fugly.

Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
This is my attempt at a better cover art. :P

Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
How about just the yellow cover like the graphic novel?

Re: Watchmen: 7/28/09 (?)
There's a French company that owns the trademark on the smiley face logo. Supposedly Warner had to pay them to use it in th movie, but they can't (or won't) use it in the marketing.
