More info and pic of the Dharma initiation kit: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Los...tion-Kit/12234 Our friends in the retail industry have JUST sent this over to us: the outer packaging (see close-up at bottom), intentionally made to look aged, worn and beaten...like a relic of the Dharma Initiative would appear by the time Oceanic 815 crashed on the island. In the broad "beauty shot" of this set's contents, we see a VHS tape of the "Orientation Video" (which we'll presume actually works), pamphlets, maps, what appears to be patches, and of course the DVDs themselves...which are housed in sleeves that resemble the kind of 5¼" Floppy Diskettes which would be used on the Apple ][+ personal computers of that era (PCs that are used in the show, notably down in the "hatch" of The Swan station). |

Just blew my load. Day 1 purchase for me. (though I will have to get an alternate BD packaging as I want it to flush well with my other Lost BDs)

I'll stick to the regular release...that stuff looks cool but I'd never use the bonus stuff apart from the cool factor and I'd rather have the sets match.

So for an extra sixty bucks, you get some pamphlets, a couple of patches, and a VHS tape. All packaged in a giant binder that won't fit on the shelf with seasons 1-4?

Looks lame when you consider the price and the fact it wont match the other sets... and I don't even have a VCR.
I guess I'll just stick to my regular Blu-ray pre-order then. |

FYI, I consider Lost the BEST SHOW EVER, and it's basically better than all my favorite movies. So the fact I'm not buying this deluxe version definitely means I don't think it's worth the huge jump in price. |

I'm going to buy the regular set on day 1 and then ask for the deluxe for Christmas, which I'll more than likely (unless I'm a complete asshole this year) get. I'm a huge sucker for collector's sets, toys etc.

I think they should provide a dvd of the content of the vhs in the package so you don't actually have to trot out a vcr (since many don't have them any more). Plus, there will be hundreds of dvd-r copies out there anyway for people that need them. :D

$60 for that shit? rotfl They've lost their damn minds. Fake 'paper' floppy disc sleeves? :lol: VHS tape? Does anyone even own a player to even try it out once?
Sorry but that stuff is worth maybe a $10 premium over the regular set. For what they are giving you for that price it should come with some Dharma branded vaseline. |

My S5 Blu-Ray just shipped out from Amazon. I can't wait to pick up on my season 1-5 marathon before the final season begins.

If you want an idea on pricing for a complete series set, right now Amazon has Seasons 1-5 as a bundle for $225. You might see a $250 complete set.
I got in on the $145 price they had for like one day in August. So I'm content with that and I'll just buy Season 6 to complete the set next year. |

Anyone getting the Best Buy exclusive? I wanted to get it but didn't cancel my Amazon pre-order in time. I don't like the Best Buy exclusive cover though.

Can't wait to get this, but, for me, it's gonna suck having to put in on the shelf for about a full month. I like watching the entire previous season as close as possible to the next season. I believe the premiere is on the 20th and while I know I can blow through Lost quicker than any other show, just to be safe I think I'll save it until about January 10th.
Going need to catch up on Big Love too. Hope there's time for both. |
