Someone mentioned they'd get the U.S. release if the picture is better. Wouldn't it be the same? A favorite of mine, so I'll double dip if so.
Buy a HD DVD player for $50 and buy the movies for $3....

Re: Universal Catalog Trio on 5/26/09

In for American Werewolf (with that new feature-length documentary), CoM, Eternal Sunshine (whenever), Hot Fuzz (whenever), and Shaun of the Dead (whenever). I'd take ESotSM with Liar Liar and Man on the Moon, but not with Bruce Almighty. I'd consider Grinch used later on. I'd also get Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, but I would definitely prefer it if they added a Sandler/Dugan commentary track to Happy Gilmore. I have no interest in Chuck and Larry, which would presumably be the third in a Universal Sandler 3-pack.

Can anyone confirm that those Cinderella Man extras are everything from the 3-disc SE?

Bruce Almighty and Fletch on June 2nd.

Wow. Heard they were holding Fletch back until September if Chevy Chases' new show got picked up.

I think they'll release some of those when The Birds remake hits. Unfortunately, IMDB shows 2011 for that, up from an original 2009 release.

Also, Jeff Kleist of the Digital Bits said he thinks Universal will release some Classic Monster titles next year. The Wolf Man remake hits theaters in November, meaning a BD release around March '10. That would make a perfect tie-in.

I think we'll see alot more non-HD DVD catalog titles next year. Universal is focused on getting out as many previous HD DVD titles as possible.

I've still got the SD of Children of Men (I didn't want a combo HD/DVD), so I'll upgrade to BD.

Same goes for Hot Fuzz. I want it on BD because I'm not plunking down even $5 for a combo. Besides, I hope the BD has ALL the extras from the 3-disc set. I'm praying for a 2 disc set, both 50GB... but I know that's wishful thinking.

Didn't the HD DVD of Hot Fuzz include all the extras from the 3 Disc set?

The 3-disc had a new commentary with Tarantino and one or two negligible little extras not on the HDdvd.

Any idea when Atonement, Elizabeth, Pride and Prejudice (2005), The Frighteners and In Bruges will be released?

Elizabeths(s) and Atonement soon. They were suppose to arrive in February...so they will probably get announced at any moment. Kinda stupid not to time their release with Benjamin Button.

Exactly. I own most of these catalog's already on HD, most of which can be found for dirt cheap these days. No need to buy the Blu's if the content is the same.

Count me among those holding onto their HD DVDs. By the time my XA-2 stops working, these Blu titles will be in the $5 bin at WM.

Would be silly to pay $15-20 for these titles when the HD DVDs are excellent and as cheap as DVD bargain bin titles. I'm with Buck here. This is exactly my plan with my HD DVDs.

Specifically, 9 additional video blogs and a half-hour's extension to the US tour piece "The Fuzzball Rally" which brings its' runtime to about an hour.

That does sound tempting. Can you really find new HD DVD's for $3.00? And new players for $50?? Hmmm.

To the person who asked about "In Bruges". I ordered the BD from amazon.fr (spending a few extra bucks), got it four days later with no extra shipping fee, and the PQ is spectacular.

Yes. iNetvideo actually has tons of HDs for $3.99 plus free shipping if you spend $50 or more.

Any suggestions for a cheap player?

Would it hurt to post these new releases (i.e. the Bruce Almighty release) in, you know, the release thread?

I'm just saying...what's the point of having an announcement thread if people are going to announce titles in other threads? Basically I have to read every thread on the forum to be sure, instead of reading one. It's silly.
