Battlestar Galactica: Complete Series Blu-ray Collection -- July 28th

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Bat...e-Series/11368

* Battlestar Galactica - The Complete Series will arrive on high definition Blu-ray Disc, on July 28th. This type of release is one that was predicted by our friend Bill Hunt at The Digital Bits back in December...good call, sir! We imagine that there would also be a standard DVD release at the same time, but that wasn't stated at Sitrep.
* Battlestar Galactica - Season 4.5 DVDs are also being prepared. In a new post today, Bill at The Digital Bits states that "It's likely these new DVDs will street on 4/21, which is when the already announced Caprica pilot DVD is set to hit stores."
* Sitrep also says to expect a triple-pack "shrinkwrap" DVD bundle of Season 4.0, Season 4.5 and Caprica...and Bill at The Bits believes that this bundle could also come on 4/21 as well.

It's about F'in time. Now what's the price for the whole series? Better be less than $100.

 If it's barely under double that value, then I'll be impressed.

I still haven't begin watching my HD-DVD version that I got about a month after it's release... but I guess I'll get this if the price is right.

No way this will be less than $100, for 4 seasons of a show. I think it may be over $200.

I'd say MSRP $199.99 for a "street" of $140 or so. No thanks. Not gonna spend that much on a blind buy.

Shouldn't that be Razor, not Caprica?

Hell freakin yeah! This is coming out a lot sooner than I expected. I figured this to be a fall release and staggered at that with Universal milking it for all it's worth but I'm ecstatic that they decided to go with a Complete Series right off the bat. Kudos to you Universal! Now just don't screw up the pricing!

Razor is already a part of the Season 4.0 set.

I sold my DVD copies awhile back, and I'd definitely pick this up.

I agree, it's going to be in the $200 range. But it's some of the best television from the last few years, so it would be a good pickup. I hated the ".5" stuff anyway...rather get it all at once.

Same here. Although at this point it would be triple dipping for something I have yet to even watch. I hope this show is as good as people say.

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Complete Series Blu-ray Collection -- July 28th

Honestly, I did a blind buy on the HD DVD from ezydvd last march and the show started off a bit rough for me, because sci-fi is not my usual fare...but It really grew on me a few episodes in and it's amazing how much the show has grown an evolved, each season has it's own distinct mark. These are the only DVD's i've ever spent full-price on, I HAD to see what was next in store. I hope these discs look amazing!

I am so in for this, regardless of price. I've already got half (1, 2.0, 3) of the standard dvd sets but I'll ebay those ASAP.

I've always held off purchasing anything from BSG. Now I'm happy I did so. I'll be happy to purchase a complete series set. :)

They're debuting the pilot of Caprica on DVD long before the mini airs on Sci-Fi.

Even if the price is much lower, I'm going to recommend you Netflix it first. I made the mistake of blind buying Season 1 on HD DVD because of the almost fanatical and universal praise the series has received at DVD Talk. I found it unrelentingly grim, with unengaging characters. Perhaps it gets better in later seasons, but with so much else to watch I am disinclined to find out.

[To put my minority opinion in perspective, examples of Sci-Fi TV series I very much enjoyed include Babylon 5, Farscape, ST: DS9, and Stargate SG-1. The first two were blind buys recommended by Sci-Fi fans here.]

I need to sell my set in the trade thread, but never get around to it.

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Complete Series Blu-ray Collection -- July 28th

I have S1 on HD DVD...and will watch that before I even consider the huge collection. It will be VC1 on BD so the BD should look identical to the HD DVD.
