For me, if I'm going to upgrade a disc, it needs to be a movie I really like and be something that would really benefit from the higher resolution. Any of Pixar's movies would fit the bill but I'm not going to bother upgrading Office Space.

re: A Bug's Life coming in May
Maybe someone at amazon made a mistake?
|
re: A Bug's Life coming in May
No...looks like some other Disney titles might be delayed as well. The 2010 dates are not correct, but don't expect these in May 2009. We'll know more soon but I'm hoping this is wrong.

re: A Bug's Life coming in May
Jeff Kleist of the Digital Bits just confirmed on blu-ray.com that the title is delayed. Doesn't know the reason yet.
Rounders is also delayed. |

Damn you, No Country! They'll be pressing so many of your second discs, they'll never fit Monsters, Inc. on that production line. |

I'm sure everyone on here would rather Disney release a movie already on BD than Monster's Inc this year.

re: A Bug's Life coming in May
Checking on Amazon...
Monsters Inc A Bugs Life Rounders have no dates. |

Crap! A Bug's Life, too?! Say it ain't so, Pixar Joe!
|
re: A Bug's Life coming in May
Maybe they bumped them up 2 weeks to 5/5/2009? After all, that's a Tuesday like 5/19 was.

Sure, but they probably also know that the two releases have nothing to do with each other beyond sharing a format and a studio.

re: A Bug's Life coming in May
If 5/5/2009 is a Tuesday, would 5/5/2010 be one? /Rhetorical
What's the point of the placeholder in that email if it has no meaning? |
re: A Bug's Life coming in May
Damn it....of course the day after I get my Blu Ray player :(

Either BD50 issues or they want to release it later in the year. Seems like a last minute decision though - and a poor one at that.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

re: A Bug's Life coming in May
Well, who can say what they're thinking? I don't think we've ever gotten a reason that Nemo was delayed last year. Maybe they just made an 11th-hour decision that something else (Nemo? Incredibles?) would go better with the Up theatrical release.

If it's not production issues, then I don't know why they'd release it later. They should have a good idea of their schedule. I wonder if this means whatever was going to be released when Up hits BD will get bumped to 2010?
My guess is they want to release these closer to Q3/Q4...and if so, that means the other two Pixar titles will get pushed into next year. |
re: A Bug's Life coming in May
Shucks.
|
re: A Bug's Life coming in May
I'll still pick these up after a (hopefully) short postponement.
|
re: A Bug's Life coming in May
Disappointing but I was gonna hold off for holiday sales anyways.... hopefully we still get a couple of catalog releases this yr.

re: A Bug's Life coming in May
Ugh, I hope this is just a shifting of dates as I was really looking forward to this.
|
re: A Bug's Life coming in May
I read that while those may just be place holder dates right now, that Disney has delayed the releases of both Rounders and Monster's Inc. until next year.
I think I read this at the HD room and it looked pretty official. |
re: A Bug's Life coming in May
It would make sense to me if they released A Bug's Life on time, to tie into UP and held Monsters, Inc. for closer to UP's home video release.... I'm pissed about it, but it would make sense to me.
|
re: A Bug's Life coming in May
It would make sense to me, too, if they didn't also have The Incredibles and Finding Nemo on hand to fill that role.

...hence the "Disney Vault". As I was once told by a Disney employee "The mouse never gives anything away for cheap"

re: A Bug's Life coming in May
A Bugs Life is still ready to go...Monsters Inc...well, not so much. Shame since when you open your copy of Bolt on Blu-ray you get hit with an advertisement saying "MAY 2009". Delays for other titles are coming as well.

re: A Bug's Life coming in May
Any idea as to the cause yet, Gizmo?

Hence your expectation of additional delays despite no official confirmation?
As I said before, watch what Alliance in Canada is releasing. Their releases were supposed to be tied to what's coming out here in America for certain Mirimax/Disney/Newline titles. Notice how Rounders Canadian was close to the American version? Or Ronin? Silence of the Lambs? What you see out there is what we were supposed to get (for the most part). |
re: A Bug's Life coming in May
Thanks, Gizmo!
No catalog or tv, huh? Does this mean looming bad news for Lost fans? |
