Re: Slumdog Millionaire - March 31st
The ending to Slumdog Millionaire is foreshadowed right at the opening of the movie. To have had the film go in any other direction would have turned a great movie into an average one. It's perfect just the way it is.

Spoiler:
Hope this has some good special features. I also hope Fox considers including some special features should A Life Less Ordinary get a BD release, as I always thought that movie was pretty good despite it running off the rails into lala land in the last 10 minutes. A track by Boyle and Garland and some deleted scenes would be awesome.

It will also have some BD-Live features as well and I think more deleted scenes. (Or maybe not...that seems to be absent)

Re: Slumdog Millionaire - March 31st
I too want to get Slumdog on BD on 3/31/09. I am a huge fan of Danny Boyle's films and have them all. Although I liked the film, it's no where near my favorite Danny Boyle film. My wife has put her foot down though over her disgust that the children in the film were sent back to living in a slum after their whirlwind Oscar tour and after being in a film that has made millions already and stands to make many more millions. Besides the money they were paid for being in the film, a fund was set up for the children's education which doesn't sound so bad to me for 30 days work. I doubt she would have the same issues had the movie not been successful. My efforts to convince her of this has not met with success. It particularly bothers her that they were paraded in the limelight of Hollywood and taken to Disneyland prior to being placed back in their slum. Anybody got any surefire way for me to convince her the children were not exploited short of having Angelina Jolie adopt and care for them. I understand the arguments that the producers took all the risk for the initial investment and the children have been paid far more than what their parents are capable of earning for a year of work. I am trying to debate the point with a mother to whom no contract binds children. I did not pay anything to see the film as I have connections that get me into films for free. I would have to shell out green for the BD though and my wife says hell no. I have a ton of horror, sleaze and exploitation type movies in my collection to which she pays no mind. This is the first time she has had issue with anything I've wanted to purchase. She was not particularly impressed with the movie. Seriously, I know this is my problem but does anybody have an idea on how to convince her that buy purchasing the movie I haven't damaged the integrity of the world?

The producers offered the parents better housing and the parents refused and asked for the money. If the producers gave the parents money all that would happen is the children would never see it and be living in the same conditions anyway. The producers have already set up a trust fund for the children that they will see when they reach proper age to take care of themselves. If they were given the money now, it would be gone way before they reach that age.

Plus these kids are getting a great education and when the movie was made, it wasn't known if it would even get a theatrical release at all - so they didn't have money to throw around, uprooting entire FAMILIES and somehow trying to immigrate them to Wonderland or something.... Hell, they didn't even have to fly the kids in for the Oscars etc. so at least they got that going for them.

Thanks for all the replies. I don't believe she is naive though. She just says she doesn't want our money supporting the movie at all. She said she'd believe the trust fund when she was given the bank name and account number. I think too she'd rather they not have taken the kids to the Oscars and then sent them back to the slum. I guess she'd rather the film never had never been made and the kids never disrupted. I appreciate all your comments though.

or tell her that the actors never would have seen DVD revenue anyway so why spite yourself when her purchase wouldn't change anything.
or buy one anyway and pee in her butt when she bitches about it.
