The previous website mentioned will let you know which discs are good to go.
I meant, usually films on Blu-Ray in 1080i50 or 1080i60 are a minority, those formats are video formats used when shooting concerts or TV shows.

A short list of films released in Europe that are not 24p :

Apocalypto [Scandinavia]
Bloody Tie (Sasaeng gyeoldan) [France]
Crow [UK]
Death Sentence [UK]
Flammen og Citronen [Denmark]
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer [UK?]
Iscariot [Scandinavia]
Once Upon a Time in China and America [Germany]
REC (1999) [Spain]
Tintin and the Golden Fleece [France]
Tintin and the Blue Oranges [France]

I e-mailed Amazon.co.uk a few hours ago asking if this is locked. I really want this on BD. Loved the film.

Just got the following from Amazon.co.uk. They didn't answer my question at all. I inquired if this release was "locked". And explained I have a U.S. BD player. So you are right, they aren't knowledgeable on this stuff.

Dear Customer

Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk.

Further to your enquiry, I have checked our website and found that the DVD "How To Lose Friends And Alienate People [Blu-ray] [2008]" has Region 2 format it means the region code is B.

Like standard DVDs, most Blu-ray discs are region coded. Blu-ray Discs are digitally encoded with a "region code" (A, B, or C, sometimes referred to as 1, 2, or 3), which allows the disc to play only in a Blu-ray player with the same region code. This system was developed to enable studios to control various aspects of a title’s release (content, date, price, etc.) according to region. A "region-free" disc is one that can play in all players around the world.

Currently Regions for Blu-ray discs and players are as follows:

A: North America, Central America, South America, Japan, Taiwan, North Korea, South Korea, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.
B: Europe, Greenland, French territories, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
C: India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Mainland China, Pakistan, Russia, Central and South Asia.

Most of the Blu-ray discs currently offered by Amazon.co.uk on our website will be region B discs, compatible with standard UK players. However, if you are interested in buying discs from other regions, third party sellers on Amazon.co.uk may offer blu-ray discs in other regions.

We hope that we have been of assistance in your enquiry. If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact us again so that we will assist you further

Thank you for choosing Amazon.co.uk.

Please let us know if this e-mail answered your question:

Dammit. This sucks, I'll have to wait out a previously viewed copy unless I can figure out if it's locked or not.

In case you missed it...

How To Lose Friends and Alienate People United Kingdom Blu-ray Disc is by Paramount UK.

Paramount has not region coded any Blu-ray Discs to date. This includes Friday The 13th Parts 2 & 3 and Zulu which are exclusive to the UK.

They also do not plan to region code future releases so you can get the extras laden UK disc with Dolby TrueHD lossless audio.

I had not heard that, thanks emachine12. I went ahead and took the plunge for 26 bucks shipped, I'll let everyone knows if it plays next month.

The only problem you will have with HTLF will be the supplements which are PAL format. They will not play back on your player.

Actually, Paramount provides the extras in either NTSC or HD format. They did this with their UK exclusive titles.
