Will Eisner's the Spirit April 14th..

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has revealed in the latest issue of Home Media Magazine that they will bring the Frank Miller's 'The Spirit' to Blu-ray on April 14th, day-and-date with the DVD release. Technical specs have yet to be announced, but you can expect to see AVC video accompanied by a DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.

Video for this Frank Miller directed film will be presented in 2.35:1 1080p AVC accompanied by a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack.
Extras for this release include:
*"Green World" – a look at the technical wizardry behind the making of the film
*"Miller on Miller" – a look at the artistry of Frank Miller
*"History Repeats" – an in-depth look at the origin of The Spirit as well as Will Eisner's influence and vision in the comic book world
*Alternate storyboard ending with voiceovers by Samuel L. Jackson and Gabriel Macht
*Audio commentary by Frank Miller and Deborah Del Prete
*MoLog
*Lionsgate Live enabled
*Theatrical trailer
*Digital copy

Critics ripped this one a new orifice. I wanted to see it and still could not bring myself to spend the ticket price for this one. Waiting patiently for the home video release.

The only way I'd ever bring a copy of this into my house is if the audio commentary is of Frank Miller repeatedly saying he was sorry and bashing himself in the head with a block of wood.

Hopefully that "History Repeats" feature is a documentary and not a fluffy featurette. Eisner & the Spirit deserve a meaty documentary.

Honestly, the only reason The Love Guru was nominated for a Razzie is because The Spirit was released on the last week of '08. i wouldn't be surprised if it sweeps the Razzies this year. To put it bluntly, this movie sucks harder than a Dyson.

What are you talking about? The Razzies have not been handed out yet (they happen the day before the Oscars)....Love Guru has only been NOMINATED at this point, there is no guarantee it will "win"....

I still don't understand why people hate this movie so much. It's a poorly-written, clumsily directed/edited movie with a good cast and often great visuals. It has its ups and downs but I found the majority of it to be entertaining in some way.
Personally, I view movies all on the same scale, and the movies define the scale. I've seen Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, which was truly a horrifying, painful experience to get through. Once you've seen movies like that, I have a hard time understanding how a movie like The Spirit can garner so much hatred.
