Taken (UK release)

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...BL._SS500_.jpg

For those interested, the UK BD is also available at cdwow: http://www.cdwow.com/Taken/product/view/3871111

When you take account s&h on Amazon (for those, like me, who don't have Prime), the cdwow price is a whopping 9 cents cheaper.

Anyone know of a better deal elswhere?

By the way, here's the Amazon.co.uk link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Taken-Blu-ra...2550313&sr=8-1

Hmmm $36. Almost what it would be for 3 of us to go see it in theaters.

$36? I get $29.02 from £20.99 when I use the following tool: http://www.xe.com/ucc/

I guess I used the wrong one. If I have Prime through US Amazon, would it work on UK Amazon?

no.

Re: Taken (UK release)

It's because he lives in the US, right? Or would he have to get Prime on Amazon.co.uk in order to get the free shipping (regardless if it's to be shipped to the US)?

matome 01-21-09 10:49 AM

Re: Taken (UK release)

Yeah, Prime doesn't apply to international shipping. I just preordered this from amazon UK as it was listed at 17.99 pounds for me for a total $28.97 USD shipped.

Looks like Fox Home Entertainment is releasing this according to blu-ray.com, which did release region-free discs like the UK Predator 2 disc and not the Fox Pathe label which usually is region coded. Of course, Taken will be just releasing in the US theaters at that time so it could be iffy. My finger will be on the cancel button as we listen for coding.

Re: Taken (UK release)

Yeah, I was gonna order until I saw it was a Fox release. We'll see though.

Re: Taken (UK release)

I would love to order this but I will also wait to hear about coding.

Why not for a couple months when it's released here in the states? Am I missing something?

stingermck 01-21-09 01:45 PM

Re: Taken (UK release)

I def want to buy, since I planned on taking me and my Dad to see it. I assume with R0 the PS3 could handle it. But I want to be sure of coding also. English audio right...?

This would be fine for me except I don't have a lot of confidence we will see the international cut here.

stingermck 01-21-09 02:05 PM

Re: Taken (UK release)

Yeah if I can see it uncut, and for almost the same price as a few tickets, and watch it at home, id rather do that.

You can still find them for around $300ish online. I have 3 currently in my home while another is at the GFs parents. Fantastic machine - though it doeshave issues with a few discs every once and a while.

I don't have a PS3 but my folk do. Does it do PAL?

E Unit 01-21-09 02:33 PM

Re: Taken (UK release)

No PAL on PS3. Wish they would do something about that.

Larry C. 01-21-09 02:35 PM

Re: Taken (UK release)

Thanks .....I can't see how the wouldn't have an uncut release in the states.

steelpotato 01-21-09 02:50 PM

Re: Taken (UK release)

Hong Kong PS3s do PAL and are region A to start with. Surprised more people on here don't get those; only concern then is hard-coded region B discs.

Bill Geiger 01-21-09 02:56 PM

Re: Taken (UK release)

Well, given the French release of the film is locked Region B, I am sure this will be as well.

Anyone who has already acquired this from "elsewhere" knows this movie is just fantastic. The 720P version I watched looked fantastic.

Same here.

I bought a French Blu-Ray without knowing the menus were encoded in PAL and my PS3 didn't like that.

RocShemp 01-21-09 11:03 PM

Re: Taken (UK release)

Is it a hardware limitation on the PS3's part or software that wont allow it to view PAL menus?
