What is your favorite HD genre?
Given the improvements in Audio and Video quality in the High Def media, whether it is Blu-ray, HD DVD, HD television content, downloads, etc., I was curious to know what genre are you most interested and impressed with.

Re: What is your favorite HD genre?
I have this little genre of my own definition- I call it "good".
Seriously, I'm not trying to cop out on you here, I just don't really think about things that way and I can't name a particular traditionally-defined genre I think HD serves better than others (or that I've just personally enjoyed more, so far). Everything looks much better to my eyes.
Hmm... it's not really a genre, but I guess I could say that very colorful films particularly impress me in HD because I love the improved colorspace so much. In that sense, as much as I love a good black & white catalog release, they can't quite compete as well, for me, in terms of 'upgrade value', because they only benefit from the

Re: What is your favorite HD genre?
It was, thank you!
By the way, my favorites are Documentary/Nature and the Older films. The BBC series like Planet Earth and Galapagos are just awesome in HD. I love old WWII movies, so I was happy to see that several were released already like Battle of Britain, A Bridge too Far, Battle of the Bulge and The Eagle has Landed - among others. I hope they keep that trend up. I would love to see Tora! Tora! Tora! on Blu-ray.

Hands down Horror/Thriller is my favorite category. It may not be eye candy, but it is still my favorite genre to watch - no matter the format.

Although I don't usually seek out drama, I marked drama thriller suspense. Sci-Fi almost goes without saying. War pictures are another favorite, I consider them seperate from Action Adventure. I'm waiting for some favorites to be released, some that have never gotten better than first gen non-anamorphic DVD crap.

Another vote for porn. Being able to see the black and blue marks forming.
Other than that. Horror and whenever Exploitation films get released.

Tie between Action and Horror
Just wishing there were more Horror releases on Blu-Ray worth getting.

Anything made after 2007 and presented in 1.78:1.
Just kidding. I voted for classics/older films, though they all shine given the correct treatment.

As with DVD, I'm most interested in foreign, classic and silent film, but there have been relatively slim pickings in those genres so far.

I'm going with action and horror as my fave as those benefit the most from HD sound. Of course the PQ bump is appreciable throughout all the genres and I wouldn't NOT buy a disc in BD just because it's a drama.

Horror.
I love it when one of my favorite gems gets a 1080p transfer with some hi-def goodies. Any excuse to rewatch old classics is a good one.
