Wow - finally Canada got a decent deal on something - picked up the Best Buy Canada exclusive release for $19.99 - not too shabby.

So the author isn't allowed creative license with vampire mythology? Surely you realize that the myths you like so much were invented by earlier authors. One of the more amusing pieces in the book is when Bella questions Edward about vampire mythology.

Picked this up at Target yesterday and there were plenty in BD and DVD everywhere. After seeing Let the Right One In, I was expecting to totally hate this in comparison, but it actually wasn't too bad. Definitely teen-leaning, but watchable.

Re: Twilight - 2 Disc BD Edition ------> 3/21/09 (Target/Best Buy temp. exclusive)

I've seen 3 threads created on blu-ray.com about playback issues. One is with the Panny BD30, another with a Sharp, and the Funai. Good to know that in year 3, we're still getting unplayable discs.

The "early adopter" excuse isn't valid anymore. They need to make sure these discs work BEFORE they hit store shelves. Average consumers who don't read forums all day long are not going to tolerate their new $25 BD not working on day 1.

No issues with internal decoding on my LG BD370 or Sony S550. I was talking to other reviewers last week and it appears it has to do with bitstreaming.

I have a Magnavox BD player and the movie "froze" on us at the 23 minute and 46 minute marks.

It was like someone paused it and then waited three seconds and then unpause it.

Hmm was going to watch this tonight - sounds like I should just use my PS3 instead of the usual BD30.

Re: Twilight - 2 Disc BD Edition ------> 3/21/09 (Target/Best Buy temp. exclusive)

Well being curious I decided to give this a go in my Panny BD30 and was good for the whole movie - no issues.

For the record:

Panny BD30 (FW 2.8) -> bitstream DTS-HD MA -> Onkyo 605.

So I wonder what the variable is here between my and the others who have had the issue. I don't doubt it's the disc, but I wonder if it's just a bad run or something technical.

Also, I have the Target version. Anyone know if the Best Buy disc is identical to the first disc in the Target version?

Regarding the movie itself, it was pretty decent. A little light on story but I loved how it looked and the overall vibe.

Interesting. Everyone else that has responded has issues with the movie....odd.

Glad you enjoyed it. Most are willing to slam it with never even seeing it.

I was only willing to slam it after seeing it. I made sure to be someone that actually gave it a chance first! And so I did slam it after I'd seen it... mostly for it's direction which I thought was weak.

Still, I know someone that might be interested in this. I might pick it up as a gift sometime this year if they don't purchase it for themselves first.

Hey I'll even admit I really like the Paramore song during the credits - and I'm a mostly metal dude.

I don't see why this film should get slammed - it's much better made than the typical teen crap released month after month.

Experienced a similar issue, just not sure at what time mark it was and using the same BD player.

Same here. Aside from it being an overall boring movie. My only real complaint was the stupid "glittering skin in the sunlight". That, and I kept thinking Nina Meyers would betray Bella at some point.

I liked it. Didn't think I would at all, but I really liked it. Bolt on the other hand

Same here. I fell pretty to the "weekend release" and got both. I thought Bolt would be a lot better for the 88% it had on RT. I think I need to just stick to Pixar for digital animation for a while since even Kung Fu Panda didn't do a lot for me.

I passed on Bolt since a lot of people who general share the same taste as me didn't care for it. Shame since it did look good. Maybe a rental someday.

I blind-bought it not really knowing too much about it just because I have a 19-month-old daughter who likes those kind of movies. I've watched the first half and so far I like it way better than Twilight.

Twilight was very good IMO. Followed the book fairly well. Bolt seemed okay from the first 30 minutes I watched. Plan to watch the rest tonight.
Overall two good purchases I think.

I can't tell if this was meant as in insult or praise, but I found it funny in relation to the movie.

I just got home from Target tonight and bought it. I thought for sure it was sold out or had only been available for the weekend, but they had 5 BD and about 80 DVDs.

For those wondering the Amazon exclusive gift set is numbered up to 50,000...I'll wait for the eventual clearance.
