Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
Bolt 3 disc set is coming on 3/24/09. I do see from the listing that it comes with a digital copy. No details on specs yet though.

Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
This was awesome in 3-D at the theaters. Wonder if they'll toss a 3-D version on this disc.

Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
My guess:
2 Disc Set 3 Disc Set (Digital Copy + Slip) |
Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
I don't need a digital copy, so I'll take the 2-disc on this. But I'm guessing they may only offer the 3-D on the three disc.

-beebs really?? I thought the effects were very lacklustre compared to other recent 3D films. |
Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
I liked the 3-D version a lot as well... it wasn't overbearing or showy. I hope they include a 3D version on here, but really if all we can get is the red/blue kind, I'm not too upset if it doesn't happen. This is a definite buy for me though.

Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
Based on what i'm reading, it might have a dvd copy of the movie as part of the 3-discs. That's what they're doing with Pinocchio, so its a possibility.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Bolt. I will definitely be picking this one up on Blu-ray.

I know it's only 2 days, but I like the idea of a BD getting an advanced release. I hope this becomes a trend.

Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
I was pleasantly surprised by Bolt. I did enjoy the 3D version so I'll be pretty disappointed if it isn't included.

Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
Kudos to Disney for being the first to give the Blu-ray the release edge on a release. 2 days isn't much but it's better than nothing.

Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
BD Insider Penton-Man posted today on blu-ray.com that another major studio will release a future title on the Friday before the street date for the DVD.
No one knows which, if any, studio PM is associated with. But reading many of his posts in the past, he certainly seems overly knowledgeable with Sony items. Could Quantum of Solace be this title? If another studio followed Disney's action of releasing a BD early, I would bet on Sony. |
Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
Quantum of Solace is being released by Fox on home video.

Assuming it's Sony, I'll guess "Seven Pounds". Unless I'm mistaken, that's their biggest day & date release not announced yet. |

Retailers should love this. Either they will put the DVD out early, or be annoyed with "Where is the DVD....I have to wait 2 more days to buy the DVD or pay $28 for the Blu-ray that comes with a bonus DVD? Your ad shows the DVD being $15.99 I'm not paying extra to get it two days early!". So glad I am not in retail sales.

Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
So it's got a digital copy AND a DVD? Also, why can I not find any evidence of a 3D version being available in the set?

Will it help BD sales? Maybe a little, but I don't see anyone running out to buy a BD player just to watch a movie a few days earlier.
I can't imagine the human being for whom "You mean, I have to wait two more days to watch Bolt at home?!" is the final push that brings them to Blu-ray. |

I love the reviewer pull-quote on the cover! They must have hot and cold running crack in the McClatchy Newspapers office.

No 3D? No sale.

Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
I won't be buying anaglyph 3D films while I know they are in the process of setting a new 3D standard for the format.
Last I heard they are evaluating four different 3D processes. I'm really looking forward to seeing quality 3D material in my home. |
Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
I couldn't care less about the lack of a 3D version.
I will be picking this one up as soon as it hits $20. |

Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
I think it's absurd to sell us a 3-disc version of a movie. All I want to see is the BD of Bolt and I have no use for a digital copy much less a DVD copy. I end up just giving these things away to family and friends. Yet, I'm stuck with paying a few bucks extra for it all. Not to mention, the packaging is so huge for these 3-disc sets, it's unbelievable.

Re: Bolt: 03/24/09 3-disc
^Some valid points but when my sister picked up HSM3, it was the same exact price that Disney would charge for a single disc new release BD - I expect Bolt will be available at most places for a similar price, so I'm fine with it...
